We are looking at purchasing a 2014 Keystone Carbon Toy hauler with a 17 foot garage. We can't seem to find any definitive answers on the cargo capacity. Specifically will my 2003 Mercedes SLK two door hard top convertible fit in this RV, it weighs less than 3500 lbs, and is 13 foot in length.

According to the sign in the cargo area of one Carbon 387, the maximum capacity for the cargo area is 2500 lbs. Here's the link to that photo. I saved it to my desktop and then enlarged it to get a clear image of the maximum weight. It is image #6 of 13 and the cargo limit is on the sign that is located in the lower left corner of the photo.

Thanks John, I can't pull it up but I trust what you are saying. Would you happen to know the ramp capacity? If we can't haul it can we store it in this RV?

No I don't know the ramp capacity but if you can find one around your area, I'm sure there's a decal on the ramp that would give you that information. Unfortunately, if I were you, I wouldn't depend on calling Keystone customer service and relying on anything the "front office staff" tells you about what's going on a couple of miles away on an assembly line. They have what's written, and most of them have never been afforded the opportunity to take the "factory tour" available to the public, so those of us that have walked through on a guided tour may know more about how Keystone builds RV's than the staff sitting in the front office. It's not how I would run a business, but......

I wouldn't think it would be prudent to try to load a "nearly 4000 lb" car in the back of the RV while it's not hitched to the tow vehicle. Unhitching may prove to be catastrophic as well if you approach putting more weight in the back than is on the pin.

The garage weight limit is a two fold consideration. First, not overloading the frame behind the axles and second, not shifting too much weight with cargo, thereby upsetting the pin weight ratio. It's a balance issue, not a space or "don't bend the frame" issue.

Sorry I can't tell you about the door/ramp capability, but I do know there is one member who recently posted that loading his 800 lb motorcycle into his garage, he has had two ramps "crease" down the middle.

Try calling around the DFW area, hopefully someone will have a model either in stock or know where one is located and you can "see with your own eyes" what the limitations are.

Here's the photo, I don't know if you can enlarge it enough to see the writing or not.

Good luck
