My check valve on my city water connection has failed (water pump is pumping water out of city connection), and I plan on getting a replacement from Keystone and swapping it out myself. Looking at the setup, it is not obvious to me how the assembly comes apart.

Can anyone who has done this replacement provide instructions on how to replace the check valve?

(I know I can just install a regular check valve in line with the bad one, but I'd rather go with the OEM part.)

Thanks

P.S. I searched the forum and couldn't find the info I need.

It's not hard at all. You will have to remove the fitting, using a square head screwdriver. There should be enough slack behind it to remove the water line that just attaches like a hose.
Be sure to reseal the fitting when you install it. Butyl tape and some use silicone around the edges.

When my check valve went bad. (forgot to blow it out when winterizing ) I replaced the whole fitting. The inlet and valve are removed with a 1/4 turn counter clockwise. If you do not have access to the rear to remove the hose, you may need to remove the screws and putty that hold it to the side of the trailer. Be sure to use new butyl rubber tape when reinstalling. All parts are available at CW or any RV dealer. Your model may be different than this (http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/recessed-water-inlet/50601)

Thanks for the quick replies.

Mine is different than the generic one sold at CW. (I have attached pictures.) I have access from the inside of the trailer so I hope I won't have to remove the plastic mounting plate.

I understand how to disconnect the inside water line. My question is how do I disassemble the check valve from the plastic mounting plate? Also, are the check valve and outside female hose connection one piece, or do I have to separate the check valve from the outside female hose connection?

I may be wrong, but I think it's "pressed" together. My sons '06 kargoroo had the same issue, same style fitting/plate. I got him the exact same thing from our parts guy, IIRC approx $30.00

gepaine, Howdy;

To avoid a lot of frustration and feeling the need to cuss like a stevedore,
for what I can see of the unit in photo #1 (interior), you'll need 2 wrenches
and that is best accomplished with the unit removed from the RV.
Then use one wrench to hold the hex-head against the plastic and turn the
other hex-head. If it was me doing the job I'd also disconnect the unit from
all the attaching hoses as it will also lead to less frustration in the long run.
Only a suggestion...
