Hello
My wife and I bought a 2013 Springdale 26RLSSR that was a leftover in February. We have used it 3 times this year and we have a small issue.

Outside around the camper stinks like ummmm black tank foul odor. It does not smell on the inside, just on the outside. We dump and rinse the tanks every time and today before we left the campground we fill our tanks all the way and drained them.

The vent on the roof is not plugged, There is no reisdue on the spout, I just don't get why it stinks on the outside.

Any Ideas? Thanks!

Mike

Another member is asking the same question in another thread and has had several responses. The situation is somewhat different in that the smell from their unit is most noticeable from their RV patio. You might want to check out this thread....."Black tank outside vent stink" by park girl.

If this occurs while at a campground with sewer hook up, it could be pressurized sewer gasses backing up into the waste tank or tanks from the campground septic and coming out the roof top vents.
Some campground sewer pipes are not equipped with traps. You can try closing your gray tank valve(s) (black tank should always be closed except to dump), or you could Form a trap using a low spot in your sewer hose to trap water.
I experienced that once, closed my gray valves and the odor went away.

If you keep both valves closed and still set the smell it could be a crack or something in your tank. Most tanks have a seem and if it lets go then it could be an issue, hopefully not though. Good luck.
