Well I finally bit the bullet on a new "old" 2013 ram 2500 cummins truck today. I have been towing my 9000# trailer with my hemi ram 1500. I had added airbags and a transmission cooler but still always worried about running at near 100%. Plus my mileage was bad bad bad. 6mpg on a good day. The last time I weighed my rig complete was just a little over 16k gcvw. So today I traded in my beloved 1500 for a 2500. I am excited to pick up my new one tomorrow and the first trip is booked for this weekend. Anyway pics to come and parts to order. :)

Congrats and enjoy. Really liked the upgrade I did from a 150 and I am sure you will like yours as well.

Congrats, you will not regret it. I did similar this week and had the first tow last night. My trailer loaded up is only 8200 pounds but the 1500 struggled and had some tail wag where the 3500 does not know the trailer is there.

Congrats. You should see a 100% increase in mileage compared to your old HEMI towing and empty (if it did not have cylinder deativation). You will be a happy camper:)

Congrats! Once you tow with a diesel, you'll never want to return to a gasser. Also check out the Cummins forum, great bunch of guys there and lots of information on the Dodge Ram trucks with the Cummins diesel engines

Thanks everyone
I wanted to post my results from our first trip with the cummins. Lets start by saying wow. With the tt loaded and the family ready to go the 1500 tipped the scales at 16k and averaged 6 mpg at 60 mph. The same load in the 2500 weighed in at 17.4k and got amost 11 mpg at 63 mph. Everyone was more confortable as the 2500 has a little more room in the back seat.
We had a little bit of tail wag with the bigger truck but got that worked out after I lowered the hitch to the lowest setting and removed the the weight distribution bars. They really weren't needed as the the tt didn't even level the truck. So far I am very pleased. The ability to monitor transmission temp and about everything else on the truck also gives me peace of mind.
