Just did a search and can only find one instance where someone asked about the Taskmaster tires sold by Discount Tire, there was only one response. It was a while back so I figured I'd throw the question out there again. Now before anyone responds with Maxxis, or Carlisle, or Sailun, I already know about all of that. I'm specifically looking for feedback to educate our members about another reasonably priced tire that is available with heavy load range ratings. They have a 235/85R/16, (most common size for large units) in a G load range at $160 each. That is not a bad price for a heavy tire like that.

Can't even find reviews on them with a google search. So, any experience or knowledge of someone with these tires?

That seems to be the only data that exists in these tires, apparently they've only sold one set, at least that's all I can find for someone who has actually bought these things. Would be nice to get feedback from people who have actually used them.

Wish I could help you guys. With the lack of information about these tires, I decided to go with Carlisle F rated tires on my 5er. Hopefully we can get some info about these.

Thanks. Just talked to Discount Tire and they said they have not sold too many, but so far have not had any issues. Maybe I will be the first guy to actually do a hands on review of these.....

Finally talked to a guy that has been running this tire. He has had no issues and said that he would buy them again. Also talked to Discount Tire again today and confirmed the specs: 14 ply, G rated to 4080 lbs @ 110 psi. I won't be anywhere near max load on these.

This is worth serious consideration. Made appointment. They go on next week. And yes, I confirmed my rims are 110 psi rated

I got the tires installed last week. Paid $140. Was told they are going up to $195 soon. Interesting thing happened. They advertised an F385 here:
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/tires/taskmaster/product/submitProductSize.do?pc=12062&typ=Trailer&tmn=Provider+ST+Radial+F385+Trailer

However, what got installed were F835's. Maybe it was a typo in the site. I am not sure. These tires are still 14 ply G rated at 4080 lbs @ 110 PSI. Also, Discount Tires' air compressor will only go to 100 psi so I will need to top them of at the truck stop.

These are some very beefy tires. See below:

Trailer Kings , was going to sell them on Craigs List but decided to let Discount Tire keep 'em. They were terrible tires and completely squatted out when sitting still with no fresh water and all waste tanks empty, And there were bulges.

New tires with a 4/15 date stamp. Installed first week of 5/15. That's a fresh tire:

Good looking tire. Will be interested to see how you feel about them in 2-3 years.

Very nice tires! I was very interested in their 205/75R14 but they were only available from US retailers so I ended up with Kumhos.
I would not have paused in buying them if I could have found them without the shipping and/or big drive to the border.
Hope they treat you well.

When I bought my new toy hauler I was hoping to find one in the area that had the G-rated tire upgrade but now that its all said and done I think I'm better off haven taken care of that on my own. I purchased 4 of the Taskmaster Provider F835 ST235/85/R16 from Discount Tire Direct. I paid $140 ($560) each shipped to my front door. They arrived in less than a week. Shipping label on each tire said 53 LBs, these things feel and look very solid. Especially when sitting next to the Trailer King tires that came stock.

I took the original tires and wheels to a local used tire shop to swap them out for the new ones. He gave me $50 plus did the mounting and balancing of the new ones in trade for the original tires. I'd only put about 250 miles on the originals plus whatever they had from shipping the trailer here originally so they where basically in new condition. I probably could have gotten more for them on Craig's list but didn't wan't to hassle with them anymore. All said and done I got the G rated tires I wanted and it cost me $510 for the upgrade. I never got firm numbers from the dealer on doing it through them but I'm sure it would have been a whole lot more then that.

As a side note when I pulled the wheels off the trailer for the first time they had no sign of being balanced coming from the factory.

Somewhere on that tire there has to be a load range letter. The DOT allows the load index numbers to be on a tire’s sidewall but only the load range letter description is official for LT and ST tires. That 129 load index figure on your tires does not fit any 16” tire charts for load ranges.

IMO that tire manufacturer has made an error with the 129. Part of the new requirement for off shore manufacturer’s is to provide a speed letter on the sidewall of all tires they import into the USA. If they don’t do it pretty soon they could lose the lower tariff tax rates for such tires. However, they did get the speed letter L on there and the 129 is not official anyway, but, the tire cannot be properly DOT certified without the Load Range letter and there is no load range H 16” tires.

I don't know if it is supposed to be marked in a specific location but on mine it does say LR G on the sidwall in the box that also says 14PR and max load limits. It is not very big but you can see it in the far right of the picture.

Good picture. I copied and enlarged it. I'm going to send it to someone that has a TRA manual for verification. That's a lot of load capacity for a LRG 16" tire.

My contact says that your tire has the correct markings on it and it's rating description and inflation pressures are correct. However, like other steel cased tires in that size the minimum rim width is 6 and 1/2".

CW

On edit: With all the changes the off shore tire manufacturers are going to have to do to continue getting their tariff discounts from the USA it would be advisable to read and verify their sidewall info as suddensam has done.

I just got off the phone with Richard, at Taskmaster Components in Mt. Pleasant Texas, who was very happy to answer any questions I had.

My first question was about the concern of a 6" vs. 6 1/2" rim. The Taskmaster website lists the tire being good on a 6.0" wheel yet the tire has 6 1/2" on the side wall. I was told that I should have no issue with this tire on my 6" wheels.

I also asked if he had any data or a chart showing what the load carrying capacity reduction would be with a reduction in PSI. He said they did not have any data available other than the tire is rated to be run at 110 PSI and that is what I should use.

The problem with that is, a retailer said it.
