Blackout windows

I have a Hideout 28BHSWE. There are 2 windows in the master bedroom and the factory blinds don't keep out any light when the sun comes up in the morning. Sometimes I would like to sleep past 5:30 AM and when the light comes in I'm up. I was thinking of getting those sun screens for car windshields, cutting them to size and using duct tape to mend the cut areas. I would secure them to the window frame with hook and loop tape. Does anyone think this would work ok or is there a better method?

That would work. In the past, we have cut pieces of that material for winter travel and it works for both the cold and light. You can purchase rolls of the silver insulation material at Camping World. The other thing the wife has done, because of light from our bedroom door, is to put a piece of heavy black fabric over the window. She was able to hang it over the trim piece over the door. Sleep in!! :D

My last camper had a black vinyl window cover made to fit onto the window frame with velcro just on top and bottom. Worked great, if not wanted just remove roll up and put it away. I have wanted one for this camper but, can't find it, I might have one made.

You might want to check out Bob Landry's exterior black out "curtains". He has recently submitted a couple of posts along with photos of the completed job. His are for larger windows but they may work for smaller ones as well. Do a forum search for his mods.

I have the silver Reflectix cut to fit all of our windows. It works great as a black out shade.It attaches with velcro except on the emergency windows. I put it in between the screen and window so it just pushes out with the window in an emergency.

I have to black out a rear door window on my mobile lab at work for certain classes....Since it's only once or twice a semester and very temporary, I just use a black trash bag and blue painter's tape!....both or whatever brand you prefer. YMMV...

Yes. it is the same as some the windshield screens. You can but it by the roll at Home Depot or Lowes. It is in the insulation section.
