Looking for tips and advice on planning the long drive from NY to FL. It will most likely take 2-3 days as the wife doesn't like to drive with the camper. Would appreciate any and all details.

Thank you

Plan out your route. Decide how long you can tow and figure out how you will spend your nights, campgrounds or whatever. Depending when traveling either call ahead or from the road. Plan in you gas and other stops. As with everything, it will take longer than you expect. Oh, have a blast when you get there.

Not sure which way you are going, but if you are doing I75 there's a book you can buy that gives exit by exit amenities and history along the route.
When we drove it pulling the RV we stayed at the KOA in Bowling Green and toured the Corvette museum, we also stopped at the original KFC and the Kentucky Horse Farm, all are RV friendly with good parking.
We stayed in Georgia at a place called Agrorama, its basically a parking lot with full hookups for $20 a night. Short drive to Fort Wilderness from there.
Lots of truck stops and Walmarts along the way for overnights as well.
Be careful not to get in the wrong lane going thru Atlanta!!! :banghead:(don't ask)

Thanks for the information and encouragemnt. So far this is in the very early stages of planning. It looks like we may go the week after Easter reak (I know what terrble parents keeping the kids out of school for an extra week). owever it would be the easiest for trael and guaranteed vacaion time for me. I will keep you updated on the planning.

We went from Northern VA to Fort Wilderness 2 years ago. FW was a blast and we really enjoyed the park. Planning should be pretty straight forward. Figure out how many hours a day you want to be out, factor in fuel stops, and pick some campgrounds that are off the highway. KOA and GS have many of them heading down south.

We ended up driving straight through and it took about 14 hours door to door with pit stops.

I was considering stoppin about half way. When we go to Myrtle Beach (not with the camper) we usually stop in Princeton, WV.
