I am making the switch to LED's on my truck and trailer. I am wondering if anyone has tried a dimmer switch with LED bulbs. I have also found a duel LED switch with memory dimmer options on both switches. My Springdale has a two switch combo now to handle outside light(patio) and two interior lights. I have read the sticky here but it doesn't address my question. 1.Will LED's work with a standard dimmer? 2. Will the LED dimmer require any special wiring to work? Any help/recomdations is appreciated.

I have never seen a dimmer for DC LEDs nor have I seen the DC LEDs marked "Dimmable". AC LEDs and CFLs have only been dimmable in the past few years with newly designed dimmers. Most 12v dc LEDs will operate from 9v - 15v with almost equal brightness so dimming is not practical. I may be behind the times (I have been told that before) but I don't think these LEDs are currently available, or at a reasonable price if they are. You might want to look into custom mobile audio sites if anywhere. JM2¢, Hank

Yes there are dimmers available for LED's. I briefly looked into it for a customer last winter which upgraded all the lights in his Delorean to led's but the ones in his dash are too bright. I probably have to look into it again seeing he's bringing the car back out, so if your still interested, let me know

Yes, they do exist. They work by rapidly turning the lamp on and off (faster than your eye flicker rate). The duty cycle of on : off time controls the brightness.
It's called pulse width modulation (or PWM).

I purchased this dimmer from ebay. I have tested it on my trailer interior lights but not installed it yet.

You cannot dim LEDs the same way you dim an incandiscent light. You need what's called a Pulse Width Modulated, PWM, dimmers. This drives the LEDs full on but varies how long they are turned on. A PWM dimmer can take a LED from full off smoothly to full on.

I'm looking for some right now and when I find some I'll post the information on them.

Ray from LoveyourRV.com just did a review of LED fixtures that included a dimmer. I'm reading it now. I'm thinking of adding a motion activated LED fixture in our bathroom.
