Dripping Outdoor Kitchen

So this weekend I noticed a drip when I pulled out the drawer that contains the outdoor sink. Upon inspection, the leak is at the connection from the water hose leading to the hot water faucet handle underneath the slide out.

I fussed with it for a day and it stopped dripping so I put it back. Today it is dripping again and after fussing with it I broke one of the three ridges on the connection. Any movement at all causes it to drip again.

My guess at this point is that I need to leave it out for the week (we are seasonal) covered, get a replacement fitting and then replace it next week.

I have a few questions:

1. Should I use plumbers tape to avoid this happening again?

2. Will I need to drain the trailer of water before I replace it?

3. Does anyone have any better ideas??

Sound like it is getting flexed when you move it out for use. Is the hose stretched tight when it is out for use?

Was their any kind of washer in there when you removed it, or did you just try to tighten it without removing it?

I didn't fully remove it.

It is definitely getting flexed, but it if it moves in the slightest it immediately starts leaking.

Mine would leak occasionally. Noting more than a typical garden hose type connection. If the house is flexed much, it will leak. I've tightened mine a few times.

Had the same problem on Our NEW 2920. pulled it apart and pulled the washer out and reinstalled it. so far so good. "bouncey:


sometimes they dont seat right. well thats what General RV in Wayland Mi. told Me on the phone when I called and complained about it. :(

I gotmine done under warranty. Colder days they would leak warm day not

Mine leaked the first time out and it was indeed the faucet itself which is easily replacable. It is a $30 part but I was still under warranty so General RV replaced it for free. I put it in myself as I do not trust techs for an easy job like this..they tale things for granted.

Try putting caps in your hoses before turning on water, and see if they still leak..if not you know it is the faucet.

No Teflon tape needed...they have rubber washers in the hose.

Make sure to silicone around the faucet and also the base of the silver snap connector on the faucet or water can drip down inside and cause serious water damage.

the other poor design on this outdoor kitchen is when you take the sink extender or the hose of water goes everywhere...unless you point it straight in the air when you open the low point drains. But unfortunately this kitchen has to be put away every night. If it gets rained on it will fall apart.

Sorry it took awhile...I just got it out for a trip and took a couple pics of the sink.

Covered all exposed press board with KILZ. Inside the sink cutout and around all exposed edges. Don't forget to take the faucet off and kilz inside the cutout holes for that. Also put bead of silicone around sink..this is not to fasten the sink as it needs to be removed to empty..but it keeps spills from getting in the hole.

Also put silicone around the faucet to keep water from getting in there.

Very nice. I sealed the edges of my kitchen also. particle board does not like water. Haven't gone the route of adding silicone as a water dam. Good idea.

I've already tightened my hoses up first time out this year. they WILL work loose just by moving the kitchen in and out. Stupid design in my opinion.

WHEN REMOVING the water spout from the faucet. HOLD YOUR THUMB OVER THE END. This will create a vacuum seal and the water will not run out of the spout. after you have removed it, and is no longer over the counter tops, release your thumb. the water will run out the bottom onto the ground. no more water all over the counter top. works like a charm!

So I replaced the rubber gasket inside the hose and that fixed the problem. 30 cents and 15 minutes and the problem is solved.

Thanks for the vacuum trick...I was just wrappi9ng paper towel around the base every-time to catch the water...not the smartest design for an outdoor kitchen... but with a couple tricks it works out well.
