It seems like my brakes are at half power. The trailer brakes would lock up if I manually hit full power on my trailer brake. Not anymore. Hooked up with three different trucks , same thing. Is this electrical or just a simple adjustment?

You don't say how old your trailer is, so it may well be time to take things apart and do some maintenance anyway. So rather than just adjust the brakes, why not take care of all your maintenance on the hubs at one time?

It could be electrical (bad ground, bad magnet, bad wiring) or it could be mechanical (adjustment, broken parts, worn brake shoes or drums). The best way to find out is to do some inspecting. If it were me, I'd start with taking the drums apart and repacking the wheel bearings, while there, inspect all the parts, and when putting them back together, do an adjustment on all 4 wheels. If that doesn't fix your problem, then time to start looking at the electrical part.

My reasoning for starting with the inspection rather than electrical troubleshooting is simply because the bearings need annual maintenance, so why not kill two birds with one stone......

Thanks I'll do that.
