I started to use my black tank flush and I started getting water in the bathroom. I looked under the sink and water was coming from under the cap of the vacuum breaker check valve. Can these be fixed? How can I trust this thing again? Can you also tell me how this goes back together as far as the spring and washer, it was out of eyesight when I took it apart. I looked in the catalog and they cost 78 bucks . Kind of pricey for a piece of plastic.

I fixed mine by removing it and connecting the two ends with two 90 degree flair-it connectors. Works great. And no I'm not worried about black water rising 2.5 feet up that line. Way cheaper @ $6

Had the same thing happen last fall while winterizing, I just replaced it with a couple 90 bends and one-way valve sharkbite fittings from HomeDepot. About $25 and they're fixed forever. Cut the pex with the garden shears -it worked slick.
