I am looking at ordering this unit and was wondering if any current model owners have verified if the dry pin weight of this model (1535lbs) is actually close to the actual scale weigh when you have a Cat Scale measurement done. I ask this as I do not want to exceed the GVWR or if over, only marginally. Do not want to have a weight police discussion and have done extensive analysis on my tow vehicles capabilities including weighed with my wife and fuel.
Also, can one get an ago leveling system for this unit as I can't see this option on the Keystone site.
Thanks for the feedback.

2013 Ford F250 Lariet
GVWR 10000
Scale Weight fully fueled with spouse but no 5th wheel hitch 8260
Rear Axel 3300
Front Axel 4960
PIN capacity 1730

Just spouse and I mainly using unit and will haul dry so do not expect to have excessive weight added to unit.

Thanks

What is your trucks towing capacity? I would say right now you would be looking for trouble. Max gross weight of my 2013 327 RES is just a little above 12K, however my truck is rated at 16 for towing.

Hi John;
Thanks for responding. Tow capacity is 23500 GCVWR minus scale weigt of 8260 or 15240 tow weight remaining; with 6100 rear axes capacity and 5200 on front axel. I am well within axel ratings and towing capacity however very close to the GVWR based on dry weight and adding a hitch. I have no issue installing helper springs but as you know this will add to truck weight and reduce the pin weight by another 50 lbs.

8260 sounds heavy. Are you certain it's correct?

Valid question and it was what I thought when I looked at the yellow weight capacity sticker that said "Do not exceed 2002lbs". That is why I decided to scale weigh with fuel and occupants and determine which unit I can haul. Needless to say I was very disappointed with its 5th wheel capabilities and why I wanted to determined the pin weight of this unit being at or near it's published pin weight.

Unfortunately, the diesel motor, heavier frame, axles, well, everything uses up a lot of our 10000 gvwr. I dug out our scale tag and our xlt weighs 7900. Your Market could easily weigh 300 more.

The 1545 pounds is going to be real close DRY... However DRY is before battery, propane tanks, propane and your stuff. Real time weight is going to be around 2200 even without any fresh water or waste water in the tanks.

The DW and I pack pretty light for our trips even if she brings ten times the stuff I think we need and we add about eight to nine hundred pounds in clothing, food, chairs, table, cooking utensils, silverware, books, movies, toiletries, drinks, ice, fishing gear, pet stuff.... the list is endless but I've weighed our trailer both empty and loaded and that's the average of everything we add.

Then on a lot of trips we add the DW's bike and firewood to the equation, so it all adds up.

I don't have a 2013 327 RES Cougar but I do have a '12 F-250 diesel and understand your concerns about pin weight and the capacity of the truck.

I'm blessed to have a bit more posted payload at 2629 pounds, and we're about to purchase a 333MKS Cougar shortly with a dry pin weight of 1850 or so. I'm very confident that my pickup will handle the loaded weight without a problem.

One thing in our favor is that the F250 is an F350 in every sense except the badges and registration. So I'm not worried about the GVWR of 10K because even loaded the 333MKS won't exceed the GAWR of 6K or the tire load capacity. And neither would the 327 RES.

Yes, both of us should have bought a F350 but neither of us did and what we have will carry either of our new trailers easily.

So quit worrying... go camping and have fun...

Thanks for the feedback guys. Well, I am 98lbs heavier than Jack on curb weight and is spot on when you add the options that eat capacity. We loved the 333MKS with the huge counter space and storage. Great entertaining unit and I am sure you will love it.
Here is my analysis using the 5th wheel Street program. I modified it to put propane and batteries directly on the pin. As well, since anything added to the trailer does not rest solely on the pin, I modified the weigh distribution to 15.17 percent of the pins vertical load.(trailer dry weight divided by pin weight).
Here are my numbers with 500 lbs in the trailer.
Truck with trailer attached 10152
Truck weight 8260
Trailer vertical load 1892
Gross trailer weight 10454
Trailer and truck combined 18716
Vertical king pin load 18 percent

Safety margins

Truck from axel 240
Truck rear axel 908
Truck GVWR -152
Truck GCVWR 4784
Trailer GVWR 1679
Javi, you and I are obviously in the same camp when looking at the trucks capabilities. Yes I will be over my GVWR a small amount but well within axel ratings and tow capacity. Will be ordering this unit likely in July as I retire in the fall. Do you know if auto level is an option for Cougars?
Thanks a million for feedback.
