My family is about to take ownership of our very first travel trailer. We decided on the Passport 238ML. There is only three of us and we may occasionally bring one of my daughter's friends so the floor plan was good for us and the weight worked for our tow vehicle. As first time buyers can anyone suggest the "must have" accessories? Also any other 238ML owners have any good modifications or improvements that you have completed and would be willing to share?

We're on our maiden voyage this weekend with our new 238ML and it's going well so far. The only modifications I have done thus far is add a backup camera, replace the shower head and add a prop rod to the underbed storage compartment.

Enjoy your rig. Getting to know it before i do too much is how I'm approaching mine.

Our dealer had a mini version of a gas prop that holds the cabinet doors open that lift upwards (over the dinette - if that's the kind you have - mine are over the sofa). They were only a couple of bucks. I have quad bunk beds, and to make the beds up I find it easiest to just pull the mattress out and rest it in the dinette. Put sheets on there and stuff it back in when it's all made up. I also sewed the top sheet to bottom along the bottom edge so once made up the bed stays put together better. Kids really love those cubby bunk beds, but they look like they'd be a pain to make up in place. Search the forum - people have lots of good ideas and pics for organizing pass thrus.

This link will get you started. I have not added my suggestions to the list yet but take a note book with you and you will see things you need, want to change or upgrade. Oh and welcome to the wonderful life of camping. :wlcm:

The other thing you may want to look at is the PRE-DELIVERY CHECK LIST

Thanks everyone for the replies. We just have a bunch of questions ready for the dealer. This is our very first travel trailer and we are looking forward to getting out of the tent.

Just got back from our maiden voyage with our new Passport 238ML. Six days and nights of dry camping. We didn't do any upgrades yet. We wanted to do a test run first. We couldn't have been happier! So very glad to get out of a tent!

I'm loving ours so far. We did 2 nights in mid-May, 21 nights in late-May to mid-June and another 2 nights last weekend. This past weekend was with electricity only, no water hookups. The 30 gallons was more than enough with being careful.

It's a great trailer!

Have fun. We are loving our 238ML. We bought a mat for outside under the awning. Helps keep the trailer a little cleaner. We've been out 5 times can't wait to go again. No upgrades done yet. We did buy some wheel covers for use when its in storage. Also bought a spare tire cover and support for the sewer hose. Have fun!
