Nashville Area Camping Recommendations

The DW and I are planning on visiting Nashville this summer and are wondering if anyone here has good recommendations on a place to camp close by.

My in-laws leave in Nashville and we've been going down at least once a year to visit for the last 10 years. We always stay at Seven Points campground. It sits on Lake Percy Priest and I wouldn't stay any where else. The other 3 by the Opry Hotel are ok but camping by the lake does it for me. It's not far off I40. Will be there again in September.

Cedar Creek in Mt Juliet is outstanding. US Army Corps of Engs CG. On lake...beautiful.

I lived in Nashville for 12 years, my kids and g-kids live there so we camp in the area often. I agree the Ceedar Creek and Seven Points CGs. My brother camps near Ashland City at the Lock A CG and loves it. All of these are COE CGs, costing around $20 per night for water and electricity. As far as I know none have full hook-ups. All will have good local over the air TV.

We are heading up next weekend and staying at Pool Knobs near LaVergne, also a COE CG. We will report back on it.

Thanks for the replies. We ended up booking a campground before we got replies.

We booked a site at Anderson Road Campground, Nashville. It is just on the other side of the lake from Seven Points Campground and they look comparable, so I am going to stick with the Anderson Road.

I will try to remember to post back later this summer after I say there.

Just stayed at Nashville KOA 21 Apr. Pretty nice.

We have stayed at the Two Rivers campground 2 times, it was really nice, and they have live music on the weekends.

So to report back on Anderson Road Campground. This campground has mostly primitive sites, but sites 1 to 10 do have electric and water. Sites 1 to 7 have a great lake view with 8 to 10 having little space for chairs and other items right off the camp pad. 6385 this is the view from our site. They told me the power was installed only a few years ago. We had a full 125 volts inside the camper without the AC running and 122 volts with it running, so great power! We were about 13 miles from downtown and it was a very easy drive down highway 41 to get their. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to camp in Nashville.

We had a trip planned a couple weeks ago, but had to cancel due to a family emergency. We were going to stay at Nashville Shores, mainly for the activities for the kids. I was worried that it might be "too busy/active" with the water park and tree top adventure areas, but you have to keep the kids active too. Has anyone ever stayed there and have feedback?

We stayed at the Yogie bear just 2 weeks ago. It is very clean and friendly staff. Yogie Bear, KOA, and Two Rivers are all within a half mile of one another and in between a Camping world and an RV dealership. If you are in need of service you don't have to go more than a few hundred yards. All three are also located within a mile of The Grand Ole Opry, Gaylord Opreyland Hotel, And Cooters place. There is also a large Mall with Bass Pro shop, You are 15 min from Nashville but parking in the city is limited and expensive. We took a shuttle from the campground right to Broadway where most everything is pretty much within 3 or 4 blocks. Have a good trip.

Bummer about 8-10 at anderson. We are planning to go there in 2 weeks and I believe we are in spot 9. Its says its a pull through, but I'm not sure how that works there, must be a road that connects to it on the other side or something?

We spent a few days last fall at Poole Knob on Priest Lake. $10 per nite with Golden Age Passport. Some sites are little tight to get into but the hosts were great to put us into a site we could manage.

The site pad is just a little half moon shape that goes off and then back onto the campground road. Lots of trees on the site between the pad and the lake.

Would like to report we had a great time at Anderson road! I will say that site 9 isn't too bad, but I would not want site 10. The way 10 is put together, I don't think you could even pull out your awning.

Site 9 is pretty much full shade, but we had the awning out anyways. And all the sites 1-10 with electric also have water as well. I would say almost all of them are pretty freshly redone as far as the gravel portion is concerned. Site 9 has a trail out to the lake. The fire pits leave a little to be desired but were usable. Good luck trying to put a tent stake into the ground, even in the wood area...most of the ground seems like its shale rock covered by dirt or something.

The bathroom is right near site 9, so easy walk, showers and bathroom were clean despite showing their age. Fairly quick ride to/from town.
