air compressor question

Has anyone ever separated the tank from the compressor unit. I have room for each separately. I'm thinking about placing the tank underneath the rv and the head unit in a compartment.

Shouldn't be an issue with a 12v or a 120v compressor. Just make sure that the first 18" or so of hose coming out of the compressor can resist heat. Most 12v compressors come standard with a steal braided hose and most 120v compressors use a metal hard line out of the compressor into the tank.
