My wife and I are looking at a used 2013 Cougar 331-mks 5th Wheel. It appears to be in like new condition. The dealer is asking $33900 fo it + $1800 for a slide hitch. I have been looking for the trade-in, low retail and high retail numbers. I can find both retail prices but cannot find what the trade in value would be. I have tried NADA and KBB but no trade in value exsists. I am guessing that this is too new for tradein value reporting. Any idea where I can find this???

What do you all think about the asking price?
In suggestion on a starting negotiation price?
Sliding hitch and install seems aweful high to me. Thoughts??

Thanks
Wade

Have you checked RVTrader.com? It won't show you NADA or KBB but might give you an idea of the going prices.

we own a 331MKS and love the layout it is great for a retired couple I think the reason that you are finding it hard to get a used value is that there were not that many sold and those who bought them have kept them. If the condition is good ask them to include an extended warranty in the price the dealers cost on the warranty is not that high

well it looks like the dealer is wanting to make a lot off of me if I let him!!! His price for the trailer is 33k, hitch $1800, 7 way plug around 250 + tax tile processing etc. So 36K + out the door. I think that this is very high for a used model year older 5th wheel. New was 44k and per my research the origional owner took close to a 30% depreciation loss as soon as he drove off the lot. With average depreciation of 10% per year I figured a reasonable starting point would be 28500 out the door for trailer only. My highest would be 33k out the door with everything (trailer, hitch, plug). I think that this is a reasonable offer. Thoughts?

Thanks
Wade

You could always start off with an offer of $27500 (out the door) and depending upon how the rest of the negotiations go, stop at $33000 - your bottom line. It is the all included, out-the-door number that counts. If he won't accept $33k, walk away IF that is as high as you're willing to go.

If the salesman senses that this is a "must have" unit for you, then he'll work you 'til you eventually give in. .

This issue prompted me to dig out the bill of sale for the 2013 333MKS we bought new in April '13. The Selling price, Tax, and Title totaled $34832.38 out the door. and that included one year warranty. The price they are asking for this used trailer really sounds high!

Thanks! This is exactly what I am thinking. We also have found a new loaded 2014 Crusader 325RES that will include the hitch for $39,500. I did not want to go in debt for that much but it may be a better option.

I am an individual selling a 2013 Cougar Xlite 29res that is in as-new condition (used 2 weeks) for $24,500.00. I had a couple looking at it and ended up buying the same year, make, and model from a dealer for more. Go figure.

Everyone has their reasons for doing what they do. That couple may have been having issues getting financing, or thought the dealer's model would give them the benefit of service (we all know that tune) or they may have liked the color of the interior on that one better. Who knows why, do you still have yours for sale? If so, have you considered putting it in the "for sale" section of this forum?
