Question about Add-a-Rooms

We've recently purchased an older ('04) 242 and the previous owners included an Add-a-Room. Our 5er will be parked at a site for the season (if the %#*%@!! season ever begins with the snow we have!!). I'm curious if anyone's left their awning out with the Add-a-Room attached for the season. We're not prone to severe wind gusts or anything, but an occasional 30-40 mph might be expected. Would ensuring the Add-a-Room was well anchored be enough to give us peace of mind when we're not there? Thanks in advance....

I think many do. Be sure to lower it when you leave and you should use a tie down. If you want to use the room, it would be a pain to have to set it up every time you arrived.

Sooner or later while it is out and maybe your gone, the wind will get it.

Agree with ken/ Claudia,the very little time that it takes to set up is minor compared uv damage and thought about if it will be there when you return .

Jordan, we have our trailer in a seasonal park in northern ontario. A lot of the people with trailers there leave awnings out when they leave. They are the manual type awning and they are secured and tilted for drainage. We have an electric awning and with that we are careful to bring it in even if we are just leaving for the afternoon. Someone with a trailer close to ours left out their electric awning and it was ripped off by the wind and now they have no awning at all on their new trailer. But with the manual ones, using tie-downs, no one else had a problem with the same wind.

I think the important thing with manual awnings is to be sure and tilt them down and tighten the tie downs in that position. This way they drain and the wind pushes against them and the arms of the awning and doesn't get underneath the awning and turn it into a sail and rip it off.
