We have a 2005 Cougar model 285 with a single slide room. Recently the glide room swith failed while the room was out and we were camping in the mountains.
Even though the manual shows an extension for the manual cranking of the glide room, on this model there is no extension and you have to crawl under the 5th wheel and remove a section of cover to get at the glide motor. Then it is virtually impossible to get a socket-ratchet on it and have enough room to move the glide room. It is a Lippert system and it looks like if we drilled a hole in the I-beam just under the steps (rear entry model) we could probably either mount an extension or insert a tool far enough to manual crank in the room.
Has anyone faced this problem and would like to offer a solution? (We wired across the broken switch to get the room in this time).
Thanks.
