Size of the Generator in a 2009 Raptor

We have a 2009 Keystone Raptor 3602RL. The camper has the prep for a generator, but the original owners took the generator with them when they sold it. Does anyone know what size/brand/type the OEM genset was? We are looking to add one, and would like to how how big it should be.

It seems the norm in most 5th wheels is an Onan 5500.

In my '08 Fuzion we have an Onan 5500.

Do either of you have 2 A/C units. I wonder if a 5500 could carry both A/C's?

The current Dometic manual indicates required generator size for one unit is 3.5KW and for two is 5.0 KW, so yes, a 5.5KW Onan is sufficient to operate two rooftop air conditioners.

I wish Onan put 7000 gens in the large rigs. I was checking on the physical size and it was the same as a 5500.

I have dual A/Cs on my unit. I also have the Onan 5500. We have run both A/Cs at the same time on the generator while exercising it.

Talked with our RV dealer and we are leaning toward the Onan 7000. With 2 A/C units the 5500 would be sufficient, but if we add the micro, or want to make coffee, the extra power would be better.

The price difference wasn't that significant to get the upgraded power. Thanks to all for the input

Did you look into the difference in fuel consumption rates between the 5500 and 7000?

Go for the 7000, bigger is better!!

I agree, bigger on this issue is better. The same goes on a towing vehicle. And if anyone is worried about fuel. Don't buy a RV.

My comment on fuel consumption rates was to look at how long they can go between refueling. I haven't looked at any numbers, but with the dry camping that we've done so far, a full tank lasts long enough with our 5500, even with both ACs going (South Texas gets a bit warm) . I like not having to interrupt the fun to go find fuel.

I agree 5500 will do the job. I too dry camp a lot In the desert. Usually when it's 108 and above in the afternoon. We are all inside with both airs on , TV is on with speakers and power amp on. Lunch is being made usually microwave or toaster get turned on. And don't forget refrigerator is running. Yes I have bogged down the gen at times. In 4 days from 8:00am to 11:00pm gen is on non stop. I have used almost 3/4 tank of gas at the end of 4 days i do not use my pumping station anymore just take extra 10 gallons of gas for the toys. 7000 gen would be better for me. When the sun is on the back side of tt were ready for some more dirt bike riding.
