Tanks valves under slide out.

Ok, this may be a silly question but what do you do when the tank valves are under the slide out???
After camping for a week I got tired of having to get on my knees and under the slide out to open and close the valves.
Is there a better way to do it?

You could made a grab handle several feet long to reach them. I would just close the slide for 10 mins and open it back up after the tank is drained. When hooked up for awhile I leave the gray open. I fill it before dumping the black by closing it the last day of camping or with at the dump site I fill the gray tank by turning on sinks.

Try using the long awning unlatching rod, to reach under the slide, to pop them open. I'm finding a ton of things it's handy for lol.

I have the same set-up on my Sprinter 27 and it is a pain in the butt. I bought a second hose and keep it attached to the galley drain, which is the one below the coach/dinette slide-out. I keep it connected and open. When I need to drain the grey and black tanks, I just swap one hose for the other at the sewer end. My friend wants to run a pipe from the galley tank to the grey water tank. Not going to be easy.

I broke the bank and bought the Barker electric valve operators. Now I hook up the hose during setup and dump when I want to with the push of a button.
The hardest part of the valves was running all the wires and getting them properly secured. Well worth the effort!

a friend of mine made a thing with two tongs or fingers and a blade on top of that. he uses the fingers to pull open the handle and the blade to close it. Oh yes, he put in on a long five foot rod so he can reach the valve. it almost looks like a digging tool at person with a metal detector uses.

On my 2014 RLS crawling under the slide got to be a pain in the butt .
I bought a second hose & a y sewer connector .
I hook up the galley hose to y ,open the galley valve & open the slide .
Best 9 bucks I ever spent on the y connector.:)

Another example that the designers of these campers, aren't campers themselves........ I had a Sprinter 27 with the same deal...... and I complained that no should have to crawl under a slide in the sand or gravel, or on a concrete pad to dump tanks....

I guess i am one of the lucky ones with enough kids running around to do this for me. Sometimes it costs a dollar but well worth it.
