I bought one of the stay a while kits last week for hunting season, got it home to install and found that I really don't have room to connect it and then close the compartment door. I wish I would have taken a picture since they are typically worth a thousand words but maybe next time.

I was thinking that I could take one of these:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-1-Pound-Propane-Tank-Adapter/13848704

and one of these:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-5-High-Pressure-Propane-Hose-and-Adapter/19897422?action=product_interest&action_type=title&placement_id=irs_middle&strategy=PWVUB&visitor_id=55708161267&category=0%3A4125%3A4128%3A1080705%3A1080725&client_guid=a8168ff1-8c8f-46c9-9436-d8322cc7fad1&config_id=2&parent_item_id=13848704&guid=52aaaedc-a09f-4d3d-b207-8d8b9aa01e51&bucket_id=irsbucketdefault&findingMethod=p13n

which would let me disconnect one tank and connect these in place and then connect the 100 lb tank

Does anyone see any problems doing it this way? being that it is for heat, temps being in the ~20's now is there any chance of the fittings frosting etc?

Thanks for your help

I don't see an issue.

You also might want to add another regulator, the one one the trailer is matched to 30lb tanks. Up here in Rainbow lake, when they brought my 500lb tank, the driver had to add a bigger regulator and the fittings to connect my trailer to the tank. If i need to, i can unhook the coupler and go back to the little tanks. In the spring, i'm gonna add a tee and plumb in a separate connection so i won't have to unhook any of the little tanks.

cdelap, Howdy;

For a few $'s or maybe even for free the local propane co. might
set you up for the cost of some hose, fittings and a regulator. The
peace of mind you'll experience will more than make up for the
nagging doubts that you'll probably have after piecing together a "jury rig'.
only my opinion ... and how'd I go about it.
