Generator Adaptors

Tailgating this year and will have to use a generator. I have a 50 AMP hookup and need a 4 prong adapter that will go from the generator to my RV. The generator is running 6750 constant. I want to be able to get the most out of the generator and not use a 4 prong to 30 amp (3 prong) adapter. I need some advice from someone who has had this issue and what your best solution would be. Thanks!

Used our gen at the motocross tracks last year and this year.
I just used a 50a to 30a twiiest lock that fit.

Our gen is a Yamaha EF3000iS - 2800 Watt it wold run both AC's and such never was in need for more power. And also sips gas too :)

I don't think that you can do much better than a 30 to 50 adapter without it getting messy and possibly unsafe.

If your RV is wired like mine, you will be able to run everything except for the 2nd A/C (if you have one) using a 30 to 50 adapter, provided that your generator has a 30 amp 120V outlet to use with the adapter.

Interesting product. The key part of the description is "20A and 30A outlet on different circuits". As long as the OP's generator can provide 20 and 30 amps simultaneously from different outlets, it ought to work.

If you're generator is putting out 6,000+ watts, I would bet it has a 4 prong 30amp (240v) round outlet and not a three prong. If the gen has a 4 prong outlet you won't have any issues getting power to all of your breakers.

Well, after all the feedback and purchasing a 30 to 50 adapter (that didn't work)....both A/C units on my 39 Foot Alpine are running 12500 BTU's. After tailgating this past weekend and putting up with the very loud Honda Black Max is, we have decided to purchase two Honda EU300IS along with a parallel kit that comes with a 50A receptacle. No more very loud noises and no more worries about power. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Not sure why it didn't work.

I have two AC's One 15k and One 13.5k. My honda 6500is doesn't bat an eye using that adaptor I agreed with above. (I assume that is what you purchased. As a standard 30 -> 50 would not work)

In fact with both running it runs below 3000 watts. Starting both at the same time only hits around 4k.

It should have worked. You might consider installing hard start kits on them.

Or maybe you just want "quiet" generators. One warning though: no matter how quiet yours are you always have the neighbor that shows up with the loud one to ruin the quiet.

I was as stumped as you. However, keep in mind the current generator I have is an older 6500 model. it is not an IS, but a 'black max'. Its also a loaner from my father in law. So, in the interest of having ownership and also a much much quieter machine, we opted to buy these. When not in the heat of the Texas summer tailgating, we can choose to just run one and be even quiet and that much more efficient gas wise.
