Noticed tank was leaking after it was 1/4 full. Took down the black liner. All hose fitting tight, no leaks, small frips were coming from the corners of the tank. Tought to tell but it looks like the self tapping screws that hold the tank braces to the frame might have rubbed through the tank??? How can the tank be removed?? We have barely used our trailer and it has been good all year until now? Does anybody else think that putting shapr head self tapping screws under neath the plastic tank to rub on is a good idea. Our 2012 cougar has been a pos so far and i bought it because i thought cougars were quality??

Hi,
I am just going thru the same pain with a water leak from the fresh water tank.
I removed it yesterday and like yours, the self tapping screw heads rubbed thru the tank.
I would like to know if you were able to come to an agreement with Keystone on replacing the tank. Considering the flawed installation I think they should stand behind their product. I am sure their are others who had to go thru this.
I would like to hear how it was handled by the company.

I did end up getting a new tank free from keystone. No help from my dealer who told me my warranty was up by 2 months and they wouldnt help me. I called Keystone direct, explained that this was a mfg defect and not warranty. keystone sent me a new tank to my local dealer which i installed my self this time using carridge bolts because of the smooth rounded head. I also wanted to install it myself as i dont trust the monkeys working at my dealer. its was a easy swap. keystone just wanted to see some pictures of the tank. You will need size specs from your tank as keystone used a couple different sizes of thanks. Hope this helps.

Pics for warranty claim are standard for all RV manufactures as far as I know. We even tag the part as sometimes they want the failed part back. Crazy as it sounds, I had to tag for return a 30A fuse that had blown.

Boxer, thanks for your encouraging answer. I posted under 5th wheel an update on my progress. The same flawed installation punctured my tank.
I will take care of the install myself for the same reason, I don't trust the dealer. As of now I am still waiting to hear back from Keystone, but am getting tired of waiting. Summer here is to short.

boxer, just wanted to let you know, keystone did commit to sending me a new tank. Install is on me. I am happy with that outcome.

Hi Everyone. Well you guys got me wondering what Keystone used on our 2013sab fifth wheel for screws. Took down the cover and found they had used round headed self taping screws. I guess they are number 8 size. On the back side the tank wasn't sitting on any of the screws. Front side was and there are very small dimples where the tank was sitting. I don't think any of them would ever rob through but to be sure I had an old leather belt I cut pieces and drilled a hole and layed the leather over the screws. Mission accomplished. Thank you for bringing this up. Sorry you had to replace your tanks.
