Something to think about when buying.

The first weigh ticket is on my travel trailer when I brought it home new and minimal gear. The tongue weight was 1060 lbs.
The second ticket is that same trailer, loaded and ready to travel (including full freshwater). The tongue weight is 1390 lbs. My tongue weight percentage increased from 15% to 18%.
My gross trailer weight was 6980 lbs, and today, I was 7750.
I'm only posting this to make the point that we should not rely on dry manufacturers numbers when deciding on a combination of trailer and truck. Base your assumptions on a loaded unit. My trailer has a gross weight rating of 8200 lbs.

I did ours last year befor a trip

This was just truck and 5th wheel and 1 kid and my wife.

3 dirt bikes and about 30 gal of water and around 50 gal of gas.
And all our camping needs.

It's good to know Loaded wt. or max. wt's that TV and RV have. I read that some only travel light and thats OK. I never have I carry extra stuff and, emergency stuff, more food/ clothes than needed. I also stay remote for a week or so at times. I learned that traveling back to town 80 miles for gas or propane takes a day out of my hunt. Sometimes I just go to nearby campground but, I still take more stuff than needed. And it does add alot the the weights. The scales are our friends we all should use them at some point to be safe.

I have a question.
I have been looking at B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch that uses the turn over ball gooseneck hitch to attach to the truck. My question is the VTW which I think means Vertical Tongue Weight. Is this the case and how do you find the VTW? The hitch was rated like 18,000lbs and 4,500 VTW.
