Does anyone use gagues or a monitor on your tow vehicle? I just ordered an Edge Insight CTS for mine. Want to be able to watch a few things at once and this seems to do all I want. I have to order the egt probe in a week or two.

On my truck I monitor EGT, Boost, Trans and Dif. temp. .... (Factory oil press and coolant temp. also) All these should be monitored when towing or not. If you have to drill and tap your exhaust manifold for EGT probe , be careful of metal chips. Pre turbo is more accurate but I'm not sure how you would do that on a v8 with only one probe.. Maybe some of the guys with two rows of cylinders can help.

I too monitor EGT, Boost and Trans temps like Hankpage does but not my differentials. I have the Mag-Hytec cover on both front and rear Diff 4X4, I do us an IR heat gun on the covers but it seems that they are never that hot for me to put a gage in.

I also have small 6cyl engine so it is easier to install the probe for the EGT gage.

I don't use them, but don't they have smart ones that read the computer and display the information for you. Since this information is being constantly monitored by the computer module it seems an easy thing to achieve.

I do, I have 3 Ammeter Gauges. EGT post Turbo with probe mounted in left exhaust manifold, Turbo Boost and Tranny Temp with a F5 DP Tuner and my TV is a 1996 F350 CC 8' Bed SRW 7.3 PSD.

I have the edge insight cts and monitor boost, trans temp, ficm voltage, hpop psi, egt temp, oil temp, coolant temp and voltage. It works great and is convenient to have all the info in one screen.

I have an Edge Juice with a CTS.

Have it set to show EGT, Tranny temp, engine temp, gear, voltage, MPG, rpm and boost.

All but the EGT come from the data bus and I'm duplicating some of what is on my dash. But I like to see numbers instead of needle position. My EGT probe is in my passenger side manifold. I had a shop install it as I didn't feel comfortable doing that. I will add a better boost gauge at some point as my data only goes to 22 psi. Problem is with the truck, not the Edge box. But the Edge boost gauge is expensive.

The diagnostics are good on the CTS. Can show and clear codes as well as show injector balance rates.

Next is to hook a rear camera to it to help with hooking up by myself.

I have an Edge Evolution. I'm monitoring ECT ,EOT , BOOST , AND EGT. I would like a CTS so I can watch a few more functions.

It's easy with a cts. You can set limits on it and it will set a warning tone when it reaches that temp or parameter. So you don't even have to watch it all the time. Like this last trip I was on I have my egt temp set at 1250 for the alarm so when it hits it it warns me and I can back off a little or downshift to keep it under control.

Bah my TV's have Edge Juice installed. The 03 Excursion has a juice platinum with the original attitude monitor I monitor EGT (real important) Engine temp (again real important) boost and trans gear / lock up.

the06 F350 has a juice with CTS and I monitor EGT, Boost and mileage assistance on the analog guages and ICP (injection control proessure) and trans gear / lockup on the small digital only sections.

Both help a lot when towing in not so flat land. Also in hot weather. I have alarms set 25 degrees below where I want de-fueling to occur. It gives me a little head start on modifying my driving before bad things start happening.

Over 200K on the 03 Excusion and have not had heat or stress related failures. Knock on wood.

the 06 is newer to me and since I had an injector blow apart in the cylinder, sit is out of commission. That was simply a bad injector not realted to towing.

I wouldn't tow without one. Love my Edge products.

Why?

What's outside the windshield is boring.......
