Sewer Hose Carrier is too short!

One of the things I couldn't figure out is why they installed such a short (useless) sewer hose carrier on our trailer? It is too short to hold even an economy hose with the fitting on it. If I get a chance this weekend I am going to take a PVC coupling and a piece of PVC and extend it about a foot or so. Anybody else found this odd, or have a better solution?

It boggles my mind why those shorties even exist. Chances are that it's mounted somewhere that a longer one would fit. The shorties will probably only hold a 10' basic hose. I'd ditch it and do the PVC fence post setup in the same spot.

We just discovered this cheap "luxury" item on our Montana. It won't hold the sewer pipe with any of the end pieces on it. For now we have the yucky rigamorola in a snaptite plastic box. I'm hoping, that between the two of us, we can figure out how to add a bigger piece of tubing to accomodate the whole shebang.

Truthfuly I too thought it would be great but the 3750 in 2010 did not come with it!! two other montana owners have them at the cg they hate them too:D

I used 6 inch schedule 40 pipe with screw ends. you can put 20 ft or more with the ends and all in one and I do

Makes a nice place to put tent pegs for tying the awning and yard mat down. Although I have thought about stashing valuables there. Who in their right mind would open it and risk having a pooh hose touch them ;-)

I use it to store the coiled water hose that comes with the outside faucet. I had to install a 5 ft storage pipe on the other side of my fusion 390 to carry the sewer flex hose.

:)I think I will see if our handyman will be able to rig up some kind of a replacement. It would be a nice surprise for my husband to be able to actually store that stinky thing somewhere other than the basement.:)

I was also dumbfounded to discover how short the tube was and thought I'd simply extend it with some 4" ABS but the tube that makes up the sewer hose carrier is very thin walled and not the same size as the ABS so I just spent $37 at Camping World for a 64" sewer hose carrier and since the generator exhaust prevented me from installing it where the shorty was installed, I mounted it at the very front of the trailer.

I got tired of the whole slinky mess and opted for the EZE Kleen System. No more mess and stores underneath. It only takes a minute to line up or put away. I never come in contact with the bad stuff. A little pricey at $275. but has worked well for two seasons so far.

What did you use for the ends?

I made my own ends from scrap laying around the garage. But you can also buy caps for the top of the post and put them on each end.

And where did you find 6" PVC? And how much did it cost? I looked around here for that and it was very hard to find and insanely expensive. I like the 6" fence post idea. I'll be checking into that.

The entire fence post project ended up costing me about 70 dollars.
