We just came back from our first beach trip with the Fuzion. While at Oceanlakes, I had the opportunity to observe some small oopses made by others, not me this time.
1st - we saw the aftermath of an awning that was accidentally left in the open position.....two damaged neighbors and removal by utility pole later, I put that on my list!
2nd- the staff at Oceanlakes set a camper up and slid the slide in to a concrete pole and damaged both.
3rd - I stopped. To check on a buddy who was moving sights. I noticed that he had a waterfront lot, well inland. He let his son run the slide out. The spotter was not in place yet. He was 2" too far back, the slide stuck on the last tooth, wedged against the utility pedestal, sheared the spigot off of the pedestal, locked in the open position, flooded two sights. We had to manually override the slide(pry bar).
Cosmetic damage to the slide, wallet damage to the water spigot.
The bad part, he was only on that sight for 24 hours.

I felt lucky that I was able to help and not able to be helped. I learned a few things to watch for and counted my blessings.

Nice that we can learn from other's mistakes :)

Ok, so in #1, they actually drove around with the awning open? That's inexcusable.

The others are understandable, but at least avoidable with help and patience.

I have not seen any mishaps yet......but the potential is there:eek:

I think " Oops  " would make a good forum. We could find the "what not to do with your RV" lessons easily and maybe prevent costly mistakes. Might even be good for a laugh, now and then. Pictures would be nice, too.

Check lists and a complete walk around before changing anything. And haste makes waste. I had my tongue jack slip off the block while lifting the stabilizer jacks while the slider was still out. Never been a problem before but from here on out the slider goes back in first.

And I was in a rush when that happened. Luckily it was only a $25 bent stabilizer. But lesson learned.

I agree that we need an Oops section. Haste does make waste, and occasionally an expensive chuckle!

They must have been watching the movie RV and making their quick getaway from someone.

Ouch on the awning, really they left it out??? I have seen the water spigot more than once in my camping career.
I have also hit the utility post while at OLCG. I slid the slide in and put a beach towel on the slide out. I had unhooked and leveled the camper and was in process of moving slide out, I heard a noise and the pantry cabinet door was open, I took it off the hinges. and then I was up against the pole. Never moved the camper. Slide was all the way out just did hit pole. Beach towel worked well. Cabinet door fixed later in the week. Nerves finally got better after a cold one. Of yeah had to throw the plastic dog crate away after it went flying out he door after the cabinet door deal. I dont know how that happened??
OLCG can be tight in the summer months. some of those rows are barely driveable when the CG is full. We rode through there last week while we stayed up the road, we are planning a trip ther next may"bouncey:. Beat the rate increase for summer months?

How do you start a "Sticky"?

Mishaps happen all around the campground... Last week while camping we were coming back in from fishing to go to our camper. I had to circle around the boat launch several times waiting for two gentlemen to launch there pontoon boat. They finally got it in the water and I proceeded toward the boat launch. One guy was holding the rope and the other guy was pushing their pontoon boat over to the side so I could get to the dock. As I was coming in I was watching the guy with the rope and their boat. The guy holding the rope kept looking at the rope in his hand then looking at his boat ( he must have done that 10 times) as his boat was going farther and farther away from shore.. He forgot to tie the other end of the rope to his boat  Anyway I retrived their boat for them... and all was fine.
