I just saw this forum and see there have been no threads posted. Just want to invite anyone headed this direction to come enjoy the "Pacific Wonderland". Oregon has something for everyone - forests, high desert, seashore, casinos, mountains, lakes, beautiful sunrise/sunsets, wildlife, sand dunes, and unlimited opportunities for outdoor recreation (fishing, hunting, hiking, kayaking, biking, sailboarding/surfing, skiing, etc.), and friendly Oregonians.

The reason that you haven't seen any posts in the Northwest section is that, so far, no one has indicated any interest in having a rally or get-together in this area. Anyone who has been to Oregon has to agree with your assessment of what it has to offer. It is, indeed a "Pacific Wonderland".

Does your post indicate a desire to organize a rally in Oregon?

Sorry, but I'm unable to commit to organizing a rally. I take care of my mom, so my life is sometimes unpredictable. Part of the reason I retired. But, with the help of our kids, we are able to get away for a few days, now and then. If anyone should show an interest, I would be happy to suggest some locations.

We just returned from the Northern Oregon coast. Rode the Coastal Excursion Train from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach with our 4 yr old Grandson for his birthday. We stayed just East of Tillamook at the Kilchis River County Park CG. Out of the way, but close. Got rained on the last day, but that's Oregon for you :D

IMO, summers are too crowded at the Oregon Coast, especially to the North as a lot of people from the Portland Metro area go there to get away from the valley heat. Sorry if I have offended any Forum members from Portland :o But, then, we live on the South Coast, so we have a different perspective.

Oregon does have so much to offer and I'm sure a rally would be well attended. My suggestion would be to have it in a more central location so attendees would have more options for sight-seeing, etc. Plus, highway access to the coast is very limited.

Just some suggestions :)

An Oregon rally sounds promising. Now the hard part..........is there someone willing to take charge and organize one for 2014????????

My wife and I just sold our RV Park. It is located it the hart of Central Oregon with lakes in all direction. It is a small Good Sam park with very high ratings and is located off the beaten path just south of Bend, which is becoming the Brew Pub capital of the world.

We (my wife and I) kind of let the park wind down the last couple of years just because we wanted to retire. The new owners want to get the park back up to full speed. Having some kind of rally in 2014 would really help them get off to a good start. If there is still interest I will talk to the new owners and see if we can get something going. There is so much to see and do in this area I know it would be fun for everyone.

I agree that Bend is a great place for a rally. It is centrally located, and offers good proximity to a diversity of sites and activities. And, it would be a good thing for the Bend area, which has taken a big hit in the economic downturn. I'll second warsw's suggestion.

We're planning to return to Oregon sometime this summer. Wish someone who knows the area would organize a rally. We'd come.

If you go back to the beginning of this thread, you will have noticed that a couple of members expressed interest in attending a rally somewhere in Oregon but no one seems to have either the time or inclination to take charge and organize one.

Perhaps one day, some one will step up to the plate and organize such a rally. In the meantime, you can only "wish" for something like that to happen.

Please don't tell everyone about the great things to see and do in Oregon! Then everyone will want to come here. 😉

Sounds like you will be going to Sweet Home. The lineup this year sounds fantastic! Who would think that you could see stars like Miranda Lambert and Tim McGraw in a little out of the way town in Oregon? I understand this is the 22nd annual festival there. Enjoy!! Wish we were going to be there.
