F250 doors

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, my cab doors don't seem to close all that tight. I watched a youtube video where a guy took some 3/8 latex tubing, lubricated the door seals (after he took them off) and fished the tubing through the entire length of the seals. This made the seals round again. Found some tubing on ebay, measured my seals and the open hole is just a tad bigger than 7/16" so will get a role of 7/16" and fish it through and see if that helps. Looking at my seals, there are several places where they have flatten out.

It should make a noticeable difference. I had a 2000 F350 that I did that to and it worked well. There are a ton of little tricks and mods to do to the 7.3 trucks. There are also quite a few forums similar to this one that you can learn a ton from.

WOW! I was just checking my post for responses and I ran across this! This what is so great about forums! I have a 2001 F250 and this sounds like a great idea. Can you share what size tubing and which locations I can use it. Also sagebel links to other F250 mods would be appreciated. I have 87K miles most everything is good but most everything is also from 2001. Thanks again for the post!!

Take a look at powerstroke.org or powerstroke army.com or powerstroke nation.com. They are full of info. I traded my 7.3 three years ago for my current truck. I would give you some links but I am on my phone for a few more days.

If you look down at the door sill there is a seal that you can easily pull off(it goes all the way around each individual door). I used 3/8" soft rubber tubing lube with dish soap and fished it through the larger hole.

Well it sounded like a great idea, but I have a extended cab and the door seal has a solid 5" section where the doors come together at the top. Darn, it's always something.

My 99 is an extended cab. The seal comes together at the bottom almost in the center. Mark the spot with a pencil so when you reinstall the seal you'll get it lined up. You do need to pull of the plastic step plate. I'm waiting for my tubing to get here and will psot back with a pic or two. Here's the youtube link.

It's the main seal that goes all the way around the door frame. In the youtube video he uses 3/8". I check the opening in my seal and it is 1/2". I'm going to try 7/16" latex tubing with plenty of dish soap.

You can ask if the seller has the 3/8" if you think the 7/16" might be too large.
