DW and I bought a 4" memory foam mattress and put it on the queen bed in the main bedroom. We think it is very comfortable and are thinking of putting one on the hide a bed in the couch. Has anyone else done this and if so, how are you stowing it? Rob (tx)

Is there room behind couch? You could maybe roll it up and put it back there.
or possibly roll it up and bag it somehow for storage in the outside bins?

Rob, does the memory foam solution help with the issue of a stiff and hard mattress? I've never had memory foam, nor tried a topper, seen some of the mattresses, but was inconclusive as to if the toppers would help the hard mattress issues I have on our Passport.

I saw the toppers at Wallyworld for about $108, mattress was about $500 ...so would love to try the topper out first as a cheap fix!

SlowPoke,

A Getto memoryfoam mattress topper???? Hmmmmmm <wink>

Do a search on the forum. There are a number of members (almost everyone) who has been disappointed with the mattresses in their RV. About half just bought another mattress. Some went high end, some (like me) went to CW and bought the Eurotop innerspring mattress and about half decided to try the topper route. Everything from $29 KMart foam toppers to $300 memoryfoam toppers. About half of those who went the topper route were/are happy and about half gave up and bought a new mattress after not being satisfied with that route.

Check the responses and discussions already posted from "years gone by" and you should be able to get a feel for what experiences others have had.

My wife put a memory foam topper on the horrible RV matterss and made it work for me. It was a good $100 spent.

Same here, had bought a 4" memory foam topper for our last TT. Just moved it into our Keystone and had instant improvement on the original Keystone mattress.

We do not full time with our TT. The longest we have camped is 7 days straight, so the memory foam has worked for us. It makes a massive difference over the stock mattress. If we camped for longer periods of camping we would have looked for a better mattress itself, but at $110 for a queen, it was the best solution for us.

the DW and I lived in our 5er for 7 weeks and the mattress is sagging on both sides we have a 4in memory foam topper from our last RV and we are putting it on when we get it back from the dealer. It was one that we got from Wallyworld and we liked it.

Where are you guys buying this memory foam topper at? Sams, walmart? Also do you guys have a problem with it creating body heat?

We just bought a 2" memory foam with a 2" pillow top cover this weekend from camping world. For a short queen it was $165. Slept on it from Thursday-Sunday and it was AWESOME. I get hot easy and it was great!!

You need to buy the next generation 2 memory foam to dissipate body heat.

We also picked up a 4" memory foam topper from WM. Made a huge differance. We also have a 12" memory foam at home, and neither seem to hold the heat in...

Well we bought the new gen memory foam 2.5 inch 4lb from sams club. Its about 4-6 inches too long for the trailer queen bed. Do you guys cut yours to fit? I read reviews on it and most cut thiers and say that a electric knife works best. Fill me in. Thanks.

I bought a short queen but these side cabinets are So tight to the mattress i opted to cut it down. It was either a pocket knife or a pair of scissors from a poultry posting kit.... I used the scissors and all is well.
Electric knife would work great tho!!

Electric knife is really the best. I use to own a drapery shop with my mom before she passed on. We always used an electric knife on any type of thick foam. It cuts like butter.:D

Topper is great! The "cool" foam really stayed cool. We are now even thinking of buying one for our weekday home. Thanks for all of the advice(tx)
