Filling the water tank

We just purchased a 2013 Cougar 333MKS. On our current camper (2011 Sprinter Select) we can dump water from a container into the water tank. It appears that on the Cougar you need to fill from a hose. Where we camp, there is no water hookup, so I'm wondering if a drill pump (link below) will work to transfer water from our containers into the water tank?

Why, yes it would, I used one exactly like that when I had my pop-up... to refill when we dry camped and ran out (only a 10 gallon tank).

Just make sure to decontaminate, and sanitize it!

EDIT: You may need to elevate the container to prime the pump, like I did, then once primed it should do fine.

I am new to all this, so keep that in mind. I imgaine that you don't need pressure beyond gravity to fill the tank. You may just want to get a hose, chop off the end, and then connect that to a funnel or something. I would probably make a special cap for my container with a large hole drilled into it, put the hose in the hole, then caulk it. I guess you'd need a small vent hole in the container or another small tube in the lid to vent.

Just some thoughts. I don't know what the inside of those drill pumps are like and whether there is grease/oil to contaminate the water. But if SlowPoke already uses one, he would know.

I got a suggestion at rv.net to use a certain water container from Walmart, unscrew the spigot and replace it with a coupler so I can connect a hose directly from the container to the water connection on the camper. We already have the necessary container, so I will get a coupler and give it a try once we get our new camper home.

But if SlowPoke already uses one, he would know.I used to use one when I had my popup, I don't use it anymore. The pump I had attached to the drill, and the impeller inside was made of plastic. There were no "oily/greasy" sections to it. I only used it a few times as the DW wanted to help with the 5 gallon water tank we used to refill the tank while camping, and had a hard time keeping it elevated. The pump once it was primed by lifting the tank briefly would start the upward pumping into the tank via a hose. It worked well when we used it, and had no issues. We no longer have the need to use it as the DW has decided to leave the water works to the men in the family... ;) And we rarely need fresh water in the tank as we use city lines with a filter. I will now put a few gallons in with the house spigot , filtered, before we leave. No more need for our pump. BUT it did save my DW's back when we used to use it.

OH by the way, we never made a "hard connection" to the trailer's fresh water intake!!! The pump will pressurize the line and that's a big no-no...asking for problems!

We would simply hold a hose end to the opening and let it "pour" in from the short hose connected to the pump.

The coupler would certainly be a good find since it's a major piece of the puzzle. I have a couple of containers like the Coleman and used them to fill via a home made funnel. Not fun. I've since gotten a jerry can type water container with a spout that fits in the fresh water fill hole.
