sliding doors question

We have a 2011 keystone sprinter which has the 2 sliding doors separating the bedroom from the kitchen living area which a lot of others have I am sure. All it has is a fabric strap with a button that snaps to hold them open while traveling, anyway it never holds and I know eventually it will tear something up. Has anyone come up with a better idea to hold the 2 doors open. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

My old TT had similar doors. I installed two screw eyelets on either side of the door and secured the door with a 6" bungee cord. It worked well.

This sounds about as elegant and simple as could be. The parts are available everywhere (no trip to RV dealer needed!) and very easy to install.

I'd remind the OP that these doors are hollow and to make sure you install the screw eye into the solid wood frame. Same for the walls. Find something more solid than the 1/4" luan wall material to place the other eyelet even if you have to use a longer bungee.

Anyone remember the wedge shaped door stops that used to simply jam under the door? That would eliminate the need for drilling and bungee cords. You can probably still find them at a Mom & Pop hardware store or maybe even Home Depot.

I find that wedging something between the door and the wall to keep the door from rattling helps to keep the snap from opening. I fold the doormat or use one of my wife's slippers and works for me. Since you have two doors, your wife could have a new place to store her slippers. "bouncey:

My 2 doors snap in the open position, nothing holds them closed, guess I will try and find some rubber door stops. Maybe I drive too wildly.(tx)

I've been brain stormin Rode( I know, I usually get in trouble when I do that). I'm thinkin that you might be able to get a long bungee cord and bend the metal hook ends to fit over the edge of each door, keeping them in the opened position. Maybe one of those black rubber ones that don't give very much. Just an idea:rolleyes:

On our 5er, the door between the bedroom and the bathroom is a slider. The door is held open during travel by a strip of translucent plastic (vinyl?) that is attached by a screw to the inside of the door jam and then wraps around the edge of the door and snaps onto the side of the door. The snap is quite tight and the pressure exerted on it is side to side (shear) making it unlikely that it can come undone. If the strap were to be placed on the door and the snap on the jam, the door trying to close could pop the snap. Don't know how your strap is attached. Something to check:)

going to have heat wave of 55 today, I am going in tt to take another look and clean it up some. Will take another look. The doors are supposed to stay open with the cheap little snaps behind the tv/entertainment center, Maybe find a place for a bungee cord.
