My 2007 is stock.. it gets 13.5 pulling an Alpine fifth wheel.. 20 mpg without.. ive seen a lot of guys install tuners and programmers and have short longevity on the drivetrain.

^^^^ X2 I totally agree !!! I towed a 34' Holiday Rambler (10,000 pounds) travel trailer with a 93 Ford 7.3 NA diesel. That had 185HP/358 pounds of torque. I seldom had to downshift that old 4 speed E4OD transmission and got 11 towing/16 solo MPG.
Today's diesels from any of the three major brands has more than double and sometimes triple the HP/torque with a much improved transmission. For loads up to the max rated towing weight, there's just no need to "chip" a modern diesel. Maybe for "braggin' rights" but certainly not for "needed performance".....
"Chipping" today's diesel engines is, in far too may situations, just asking for problems that are non-existant in a stock engine configuration.
