Tbos,
The Cougar is 6000 lbs and I have the 5.3 liter with the 6 speed automatic. We have been on two trips with the combo, one was just 50 miles in the mountains and it performed well, since then I have added a couple of mods to help bottom end power. Second trip was from Connecticut to Virginia. Pulled very well, as a matter of fact, the combo traveled so well I had to watch my speed quite often.

Here is our rig, known as the Beast. It's a 2015.5 Silverado 2500 HD High Country with the Duramax and Allison Trans combo. Love this truck. As far as a trailer, been looking for at them, and going tonight to look at another one.
Hardest part is the Yogi Bear campground my wife wants to leave the trailer at didn't have any seasonal sites available this summer. So we held off, but this week we found out about one on a site already there for sale. Fingers crossed the trailer is nice and we can get right in and leave it at the site.
