Hitch capacity
Looking for some insite, i currently own two WDHs a e2 and a husky, the husky is rated at 1200lbs with spring bars and only 600 without the only thing I can find on e2 is 1000lbs not sure if that's with or without spring bars I would like to know safer bet for just moving trailer around driveway without spring bars set up, tongue weight is 1020+

Ram 2500 I should know class but my ignorance sometimes gets the best of me I do know it's definitely heavy duty 2 1/2" and I sleeve it for my hitches, I only got the husky because only thing i could find on e2 was the 1000lb weight rating and even though i was only over on dry hitch weight (according to manufacture) by 20lbs. I actually like both hitches but will likely sell the e2 I was just disappointed to find out the husky is only rated for 600lbs without spring bars, not that I would ever tow on road without them but because parking is tight I need to be able to hook up at tight angle and jockey straight before attaching bars, which I believe I can do without any harm to hitches just asking to be on safe side as they cost a bit much to be replacing from doing , uh , dumb stuff.

Sounds like we have similar trucks my ram has 6.4 and is crew cab with 8' bed and yes the combo is quite a learning curve as this is longest trailer/truck combination I've owned to date.

This is only my opinion so make your own decisions. For the little bit you're moving your trailer without the bars, I wouldn't sweat it.

There's no way that truck can't handle the load without the bars hooked up in the situation you're speaking of. Even a 1/2 ton could do that job fine unless your trailer is so big the truck was bottomed out

I agree with the others. If you are just moving it around the trailer will be fine on your truck without the bars. I've pulled mine 65 miles without the bars in W TX and it was "fine"....sort of reminded me of pulling the trailer with my old 1/2 ton WITH the sway and wdh attached.

I store my TT a few blocks from my house. I don't hook up the bars when I pick it up from storage to the house. I have to turn around in a cul-de-sac when I bring it home and things get a little tight with 60 ft of truck and trailer.

Hornet 28 i should have been more specific, your correct in your assumption, I'm not concerned about the truck or its factory installed hitch I'm referring to the actual weight the husky hitch and the e2 is capable of without damaging any of their specific components being used without bars tne husky unfortunately spells it out in paperwork it drops to 600lbs max where as i can find nothing on the e2 other than 1000lbs and im guessing they mean with bars, sorry for confusion but I agree bumping the trailer around in tbe driveway shouldnt be an issue.

I'll second (third?) that. We have the Husky, and I regularly maneuver around CGs without the bars, no problem.
The only thing you have to watch is the clearance without the bars. The back of the truck will sag a little and if you go over a significan hump, it might drag the hitch. But for just moving the TT around, it's easier without the bars.

I can't pull my trailer out of it's parking spot at home with the bars on. I need the rear of the trailer raised to get out.
So I usually pull it out of it's spot, drive around the block and then park in front of the house with the door facing the house all without bars on. I need to go around the block to get turned around from how I need to pull it out.
No issues, just go slow and watch the bumps.
