Awning opinions

I know this could be asking for trouble, but which power awning(s) have everyone had/used & what were the pros & cons of each?

If you have a manual awning, KEEP IT!!
You can pull the arms and stake them to the ground, no need for 12V to operate, no motor to fail.

If I was looking to install an electric, Dometic would be my first choice. I like mine, but miss my old manual awning.

I've got a Dometic 9100 that the arms got damaged by a sudden wind gust over the weekend & trying to decide whether to fix this one, or completely replace it. The arms seem very cheaply made on this one.

I would just replace it with same. Holes will line up, and as flimsy as the arms look, they are as good as any other IMO.

When it comes to electric awnings, Dometic (IMHO) has a slight edge on Carefree and either of them is significantly better than the Solara. I know that won't be the same opinion that others will have, but I've had excellent results with Dometic and about the same with Carefree (but getting parts for Carefree is harder because there's less of them around) and Solara is the "new kid on the block" without a proven track record and limited availability/serviceability.

Like Chuckster, if you've got a manual awning KEEP IT !!!!! If you have to replace an awning, most often it's easier and causes less "cover the old holes" by using the same brand/model as the old one.
