2017 F250 from 2013 F150

The New Super Duty is a tall truck especially at the hitch from the ground up it was two inches taller than the F150 so my e4 shank was going to be short and the F 150 required a 2 inch shank and of course the F250 a 2 1/2. To level the trailer I had a curt 6 inch drop shank in the shed and used a sleeve to tow it to my brother`s parking lot. Pulling it I could feel the shank moving in the receiver, I noticed after removing the hitch the sleeve already had a slight mark on it from the movement from the shank. Yes I could weld it or even shim it, but what the heck. I just cut out all the maybe`s and could do`s and just order the correct shank and drop. A little play is ok but I think this was just to much for something close to 6800lbs. So if you move up just some things I have come across. Yes the 2017 is taller at the rear than a 2011 F250 son in law has one of those.

Right on! I did the same thing when I got the 2017 F-250 for our TT toyhauler. The new 2.5” shank really “felt” better.

I don't know about the Fords but Ram and Chevy come with a adapter sleeve that reduces the HD hitch to 2". The sleeve slides into the receiver. I would check with the dealer if you didn't get one.

The big three all come with a sleeve and the replacement is available at Autozone, Advance, NAPA, etc for $10.95. Don't ask why I know.

Ford F-350 has 2 sleeves as it can take a 3" shank.

Yup, new larger shanks, new trailer safty chain hooks, new portable compressor, new tire gauge, new bed liner, new bed cover, etc. . . The price of moving up, I guess.

I was able to re-utilize my floor mats, though

Madmaxmutt got my shank in today and that`s what I call a tight fix. Sure is better to me lining up just a shank instead of a coupler and a shank that hitch ain`t light.

Check your owners manual when using the sleeve...using the sleeve decreases the towing capacity.
