Opinions for FH campgrounds in Eastern Colorado

The lovely wife and I are going to a concert at Red-Rocks at the end of July and are booked for a couple of days at a campground nearby but I'm looking for recommendations for full-hookup campgrounds for four days after. I've never pulled our 24 ft. KS Laredo with our F-150 over the "big" mountains before - did alright in Big Bend NP but that not really the same right, but still some hesitation about taking it over mountain passes. Would like to get opinions on places from Denver south to Canon City and no farther west than Pagosa Springs/Gunnison. Thanks in advance.

We're coming from the DFW area but haven't picked a route yet. We are pulling our TT with a 2009 F-150 Lariat Crew Cab V8 6-speed Automatic - no idea about axle ratio or even how to find that out.

My truck has a white label (see picture) that lists the particulars about the truck. I've put a red arrow above the item that indicates your rear axle ratio. I don't remember if I found what the "3E" meant in the truck manual or had to go dig on-line.

These are (unless they've changed) the axle codes for 2009 F-150's:

19 – 3.55 Non-LS
18 – 3.08 Non-LS
H9 – 3.55 LS
B6 – 3.73 LS

You can get information about the codes for other components at this link:

https://www.fordf150.net/howto/decode.php

The Ford fleet database with complete information about the 2009 F150 can be found here: https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...2009-F-150.pdf

There is another thread about Co. that gives a route 287N out of Dallas that leads to the east side of the Mts, up to Denver. Just south of Denver there is a S/P with full H/U. Very busy.
I'll be leaving Saginaw the end of July to Colorado Springs
Check ALLSTAYS.com to find a place nearby
Good luck and happy camping

Thanks all - so it looks like I've got a H9 – 3.55 LS Axle. The engine is a 5.4L V8. Our trailer is a 2015 KS Laredo 23RB.

Thanks for any recommendations on specific campgrounds and routes, especially if rig won't make it over the passes.

From a quick glance it looks like you may take I25 N. If you do it looks like Raton Pass may the only LONG uphill climb and I think your truck/trailer combo will do just fine - just be prepared to run in a lower gear at higher rpm's at a slower speed.

Thanks Sourdough, so do you think I would be able to tackle some of the higher passes (Cottonwood Pass for instance)?

Also, would you or anyone else have any recommendations for full hookup campgrounds in the Cripple Creek, Canon City, Gunnison or Pagosa Springs area (We're still trying to pin that next stop down)? I saw several people mention "Sportsman Campground near Pagosa Springs.

Sportsman is north of Pagosa on the way to Williams Creek Reservoir. It's been years since I've been there. Never camped there, just used it for showers while hunting. It's out there, not much else around. I think a couple folks on here have stayed there. They may have even paved the road by now.
Google sportsman campground Pagosa springs.
There are also a couple campgrounds on Vallecito Reservoir west of Pagosa.
And....go for it with your truck. I've done it a ford truck with a 300 six cylinder carrying a cab over and towing a utility trailer.
