Some guy on another forum posted he had a Keystone 5ver and was mad about the quality. He bought the trailer and couldn't use it for a period so it is out of warranty and on his first adventure found his trailer brake didn't work. To be fair, he had frayed slide cables that shouldn't have frayed as well but he is MAD at Keystone. Since he was on the road, he took his trailer to Camping World in New Braunfels and they charged him $1500 to fix the brakes. Turns out there was a brake wire that was broken. Someone over on that other forum mentioned that Keystone doesn't make slide out mechanisms and it is probably another Lippert product but he paid $800 to get the cables replaced (there were two I think).
I got a little annoyed about his complaining about Keystone since the value of the repairs should have been nominal even if performed by a shop and also some Forest River 5ver owner piled on and put a hex on Keystone and lauded Forest River. I owned a Forest River 5ver before this Keystone and can attest it is made with just about the same level of workmanship only the cabinets in the Keystone are a lot nicer. The Lippert, Dometic and other components/appliances/frame/suspension are about the same.
The only thing that was better on the Forest River is that they had Trailer King tires with a lifetime warranty!
