New family from Alabama

Hello all,

My wife and I are new to the Keystone brand, but not new to camping. We are in the process of trading our current camper in on a leftover 2017 Hideout which we will pick up this Friday.

Current Camper: 2013 Heartland Prowler 31PRET
New Camper: 2017 Hideout 298BHDS

Tow Rig: 2012 Ram 2500, 6.7L Cummins, deleted (H&S MiniMax), Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller, B&W Companion RK3500 fifth wheel receiver.

We look forward to the site! Is there anything specific to the Hideout that we need to watch for when we do the delivery inspection of the new camper? We've never owned a Keystone (We've had Coachman, Jayco, and Heartland previously) so this will be a new adventure for us.

Howdy neighbor! Sorry I cant help fill you in on Keystone. I just bought one myself.

Do y'all camp in the local area? If so could you fill me in on the good/bad S TN, N GA, N AL parks. We just bought our first camper and have reservations at Desoto State Park. Wanting to keep it short for our first outing.

Good luck with your new rig.

Thanks!

We have only camped in two local campgrounds so far. Goosepond Colony in Scottsboro and Honeycomb just outside of Guntersville.

We prefer Goosepond. Spots are clean and easy to maneuver. Our 5W is going back to the dealer for some work but as soon as it gets back we will probably hit up GP again. We do want to try Desoto this fall though.

Desoto is a nice park. It wasn’t crowded at all, maybe 1/3 capacity. I suggest making reservations at least 6 weeks ahead in the fall. I hear it gets crowded.

We went up to DeSoto in the fall a couple of years ago when we 1st started camping, it was very nice and quiet. Nlambert, we ventured up to your neck of the woods to the Space Center last year and stayed at the campground there. My kids loved it, they were shooting off rockets right by the campground. Kind of noisy but my kids enjoyed it so I won't complain. We have also made a trip up to Point Mallard in Decatur, its a decent place but very crowded with spots on top of one another.
