Air conditioner in main living...

So now that we have made it back to the ranch with our new 2023 Raptor 352 I started addressing some of the issues we've had on our trip back.
Couldn't figure out why the middle air unit wouldn't catch up to the set temp of the main living area. Pulled the cover off and low and behold from the factory they stuffed about 3 or 4 extra feet of wire into opening that is a huge air flow restriction.
I understand they are in production mode when assembling these units but for petesake have some common sense

And at the price of copper these days, I'd expect it to be too SHORT.

Since you are chasing air flow issues... Don't expect that unclogging all those wires will solve everything. Ask me how I know. Assuming you have a ducted system, pull off some of the vents and you'll likely have to seal off the gap between the hole in the duct and the ceiling panel with some aluminum HVAC tape. I had so much air escaping into the attic cavity.

Thanks for the heads up.
Was curious if I may be missed something before I trim the wires?
Is there any reason I should leave them long and just try to un stuff them?

Well, instead of trimming the wires shorter, I was able to dismantle a little more of the box and slide the extra wire back in and out of the way. Tidied it up and seems to have a better space for air flow.

AC not cooling

Avalanche 338gk, i have repaired all of the open cavity leak into the ceiling. However hooked up to 50 amp service with both ac running the rig gets up to 89 temp. Any suggestions on where to start?

Wish I could point you in a direction to solve the mystery.
I still need to go through and check all of my ducts for leakage also.
It seems by moving the wires out of way I have achieved a little better cooling.
However, mine has gotten a little closer but it still never reaches the set temp.
If I set the therm at 80 it will go down to 81 and continue to run.
If I set the therm at 79 it will go down to 80 and continue to run.
It never seems to shut off at the desired setting which I find weird.
The bedroom air...no problem. (I know this a smaller space to cool)
I also know these air cond units generally only go down 15-20 degrees from the outside temp. Even tho I'm under an RV shelter at the ranch, it's still reaching 100 degrees or better here during the day.
Once we start getting into the low to mid 90's I can revisit this.
I'm not sure you can recharge these units with refrig like a normal AC?
Still chasing the air demons in my trailer.
If I get the exorcism performed I'll certainly report back.

Yeah, I'd never cut the wires... they typically come in through a hole, so untape the hole and stuff the slack back into the ceiling where it's out of the airflow.

I've had my share of Keystone issues, but wires that were "too short" has never been one of them. Typically there is enough slack in every circuit to add Christmas lights on them.

When I got my rig, one of the three pantry shelves was blocked off because they had run TV antenna and outlet wiring straight across the void. Talk about production mode. DW went ballistic. I found there was so much slack in every single circuit, I rerouted it along the walls with loom and reclaimed the compartment for her.

The thermostat sensor for the middle ac is located in the hallway next to the bathroom and across from the large hallway window.
If the sun is on that sensor the ac will think the air temp has not reached the desired temperature and will keep running…

Then again, if the outside temp is above 95, the A/C isn’t going shut off anytime soon, unless you move it to inside the refrigerator.

They don't have the ports. On my old rig, I found a guy who was willing to install the valves and do the job and we were happy with the result, but when I referred another RVer to him a year later, he said he had stopped offering that service. I since learned that the modification sometimes produced unfavorable results. If you want to take the chance and call around, you might find a guy. But it's not the first avenue I'd choose to solve your problem.

Don't forget if you want to increase you air flow and lower the noise the unit make, you can look into RV Airflow systems. I have them on both my units and love them. Check YouTube also for folks who have made their own, and saved money. Just a thought.

I had an issue with one of mine, and I called them, owner answered and was on the phone with me until we found the issue or fixed it. Top notch service, but it should be for the price.

Here is a new A/C just out on the market for consideration if anyone is thinking of replacing their current roof unit.
