refrigerator drain
This may be a dumb question but should the drain on the refrigerator have a drip loop in it. Was cleaning the outside compartment and it looked like the drain hose
on purpose had a loop in it. I straighten the hose a water ran out, could not
find anything on here or on the web.
Thanks

As a rule, no you don’t need a loop. As long as the plug is in the end, and terminates outside the access cover your good. Norcold uses a drip pan mounted to the back of the fridge.

Mine is straight...with the plastic screen on the end. A friend ask me about his fridge drain tube & it had the drip pan chuckster57 speaks of.... it was half full of gross nastiness!!! I'm sure the idea was, it is supposed to evaporate before it comes to life!

Drain
Now that Ive taken the loop out it hangs out about 18 to 20 inches,I will be trimming the hose. I suppose they did not want to take the time to trim it at the factory.
Once again thanks

My guess would be it was used as a p trap to keep ants, bugs out. I have yet to find any excess material for anything in a trailer yet. YMMV

I actually just did a brand new unit that the drain tube hung down below the fender skirt. Spend a month with me, you’ll find excess “stuff” everywhere. “We” get to keep it before you ever see it

I had my fridge replaced under warranty, and they had a good 18 inches of extra hose in there. Wasn't in a drip loop configuration either, just kinda pushed up in there. I fixed that, and now it drains properly....I hadn't seen it drain since they installed it up until now. I just made it straight, popped off the screen part on the end, cut it and reattached the screen part. I saved the extra 18 inches for some reason...though i haven't found that reason yet!
