Grey tank leaking...when CLOSED!

Hey everyone!

I have a 2009 Freedom Lite M-299BH with an enclosed underbelly. I just noticed last trip that when I drained some water from the tub....it started rushing out of the tank onto the outside ground. I ran out thinking I left the gate open. But, it was closed! Replacing the gate itself if pretty easy I've seen online...but how do I get to it with that enclosed underbelly? Anyone that's done it or has seen a video online, I would really appreciate any input!

Thanks!!!!
Nicole

You can at least add a secondary valve at the current cap to prevent spillage. Then figure out how to remove the material under trailer. Usually a combination of screws and rivots that have screw heads on them.

Nicole, first things first. You need to find the location that grey water is leaking from first. "I ran out thinking I left the gate open. But, it was closed!" Since it isn't coming from the gate valve then there has to be a leak somewhere else. It will NOT be necessary to drop the Coroplast in the underbelly, but lets find where the leak is and get back to us.

Well if you are stating that it is coming out the end of the drain valve, then the quick solution is to add a twist on valve at the drain line where the dump hose would attach. If it is coming out elsewhere then time to drop the belly. There have been several post on different ways to do that.

Russ, it is not imperative to drop the Coroplast on a 10-11 year old RV. Rust and corrosion will probably insure that it never gets back into position. Probably every one of those self-tapping screws will shear off. The OP was not clear about the location of the leak, so let's wait and see where it actually is.
