5th wheel auto slider

Just purchased 2019 Impact 311 5th wheel toy hauler
Dry weight on this unit is 11,780 with a hitch weight of 2,780. When loaded with bikes and supplies I’ll be around 13,900. Towing with a 2019 Silverado 2500HD with the Alaskan package and 6.0 engine. My question is the automatic slider hitches. 1. Demco has a 18k for my truck which I like because it will still slide to rear of the bed when in reverse for parking. 2. The Pullrite superslider of comparison is $300 less but nowhere can I find that it says it works in reverse. That’s when I need the clearance the most.

Any thoughts or info on these two hitches will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

If your talking about pullrites autosliding hitch it will rotate to the rear of the hitch based on turning. As you turn the truck or trailer and the angle changes, the hitch will rotate and move back. As you straighten out, the hitch will rotate and move forward. This movement doesn’t happen only in reverse or forward, it does it in BOTH forward and reverse.

Hope I didn’t confuse you.

I have this hitch and it works as quoted above.

Thanks. Appreciate the info. Any info on the Demco auto slide? Any preferences on either one?

Harley, we have had the Demco for two years and it works just like Chuckster said. You do nothing but drive, it is all automatic. PM me and I’ll give you my phone number and I can explain further.

Thanks to all for the help. Waiting to hear from my dealer on the 5er. They say they’re going to give me a deal on the Pullrite superglide 16K. This should be interesting. Got them so far to install two slide toppers at no cost to me. Hopefully the slider will be no cost to me either. Will repost on how I make out. Thanks again. This has been a major help to me

We prefer the Pullrite. Tech support and customer service has been the best. Make sure the dealer gets the correct capture plate.

As I remember, the Demco has guide plates that you set up the first time you connect, and I found it a bit awkward but to each their own.

I agree that the two guides on the Demco made it a bit "edgy," as it did others. Demco sells a plate with your hitch that bolts to the bottom of your bin box and the guides are no longer used. It works slick as moose garbanzo!

I have 311 it's nice size toyhualer I pulled with 2500 13 Duramax , it's heavy . I wished I had worked the dealer into G raided tires . The puck setup is amazing and can eliminate a lot of weight . The Anderson hitch only weights 44 lbs and worked good with standard bed 79 inches . I'LL be up front that 311 is to much for your truck . Have a good day.

I have the Pullrite super slider 18K and it's worked great so far. i have done a 90 Deg. turn (carefully of course) and it handles it like a champ. I got mine thrown in when i bought RV so the orig owner swore he loved it. I do too. A few shots of WD 40 at each hookup and occaisionally while towing. That is about it. One thing about the Auto sliders si that they are heavy. You are probably already going to have too much trailer for a 2500. However that is your decision.

Not to start the weight police comments, but just FYI, the max tow weight for your truck means NOTHING! ANY dry weight numbers, including pin/tongue, for your rv also mean absolutely NOTHING. The trucks payloads are the number your needing & once you've parked your cheeks in it that number has been reduced. The rv will NEVER EVER weigh that again once the dealer adds battery/batteries, propane & fill the water heater.
Also with the new 5th wheels with notched front corners on short bed trucks most can tow without the slider hitches unless you have to get into a severe angle backing into your driveway or storage.

Get an Anderson hitch. Super light and don’t slide but brings the mounting location about 9 inches back away from cab. I use it with a short bed and it works wonders.
