New 199ML

Hey everyone, I am purchasing my very first travel trailer next week. I am going with a 2014 Passport 199ML. It will mostly be my son and me camping together, occasionally (rarely) with my wife and daughter. We had only ever camped with a trailer one time last year and he and I loved it, so we are going for broke this year! I've looked through all of the "first timer" info, there's a lot of great ideas out there! I'm very excited and the guys at work are already tired of hearing about it.

to the forum and congrats on that new rig!! I am sure you and your son will have a blast, and hopefully, in a short time, your wife and daughter will see how much fun it is and join "the boys"! Lots of good folks and info here so don't hesitate to ask.

welcome

I think you will be pleased with your new trailer. My wife and have a 189ML, which is a shorter version of your model, and we have been very happy with it.
Have fun!
What is your tow vehicle?

Excellent choice for your first trailer, not too big and not too small
I hope you and your son have a blast camping, post some pics when you two get out on the open road

What they ^^^^^ all said. And just think what the guys at work will think when you start coming back with the father/son stories....a great trailer to start. And be sure to post a picture or two.

Thanks for the welcome guys! I will post some pictures when I actually get it. I am towing with a 2006 F150 with the 5.4 liter. I own a classic Mustang and tow a car trailer with the same rig and never have any issues, and this trailer is significantly lighter so I'm not expecting any issues, other than my mirrors are too short! It looks like the tongue weight is under 400 lbs, what are some opinions on using me weight distribution set up? I don't normally use it on my empty car trailer, but DO use it when the trailer is loaded. 400 lbs isn't too heavy but I wasn't sure if I should still use it or just pop it onto the ball and go.
