Outside fridge, what were they thinking?

Cougar 26RBS and the refrigerator in the outside kitchen can't be turned off. Here's why; the refrigerator control is on the back, the receptacle is behind the refrigerator, and the thing has a bracket holding it in place.

My solution; mount a switchable power strip in an accessible location. Plug the strip into the receptacle and the refrigerator into the strip. I won't be able to adjust the temperature but at least I can turn it off and on.

Ours has the outdoor fridge but has a snap-buckle strap holding it in place and keeps the door closed while on the road. I haven’t needed to adjust the thermostat (I just keep it on 4), but I agree that not having an easy way to turn it on/off or unplug it is a pain. I like the idea of a power strip, but I was thinking of pulling the outlet out and snaking a wire to the front of the compartment, cutting in a box and installing a switch where it is easy to get to. If I have time this weekend I will give it a go and post a pic if I have success

Hm. I have the 2019 26RBS and the temp control (with off position) on the outside dorm fridge is in the upper right corner inside the door. It also doesn't have any bracket holding it in; just a velcro strap, a threshold strip, and tight side clearances.

What brand fridge did they put in the 2018s? (I'd offer what brand mine is, but I won't have it back until Friday.)

I had some electrical parts hanging around, so I installed a switch today. Access from above was easy; remove the bunk mattress and the 1/4” plywood base (not even screwed down), and everything is right there.

Ironically I modified mine today also. I took a different approach by mounting a power strip on the wall and plugged the refrigerator into the strip. The additional benefit is ability to plug in additional items.

I appear to have the same refrigerator but with a screwed down holding bracket, no strap.
