Florida has put out the "No-Vacancy" sign. Just kidding have a safe trip. The population does swell by about 32% in the winter, according to my barber.

baltimore tunnels

The best way to avoid the tunnels around Baltimore is to take the beltway west around Baltimore. That is a bit longer way around but it avoids all the tunnels and toll bridges that you have to deal with on the east side of the city.

First long trip from Florida to Main

We are taking our first long trip to Main from Florida in our 2019 Keystone Avalanche. I have a couple of questions for those who have taken the same trip.
Is August a Good time of year to head to Main via I95 and how necessary is a generator if we are planing to stay in Campgrounds through our trip.

Unfortunately, the Baltimore corridor really only leaves you two options. 695 or western, 895 or eastern. All things being equal, 895 has a nicer view with a bridge, 695 is a bit longer. Either one can be plagued by traffic making one better than the other so if you would like to try our method, we use the Waze GPS app on our phones to pull the real time traffic data and make our determination when we get to the splits.

Interstates: 76 - 81 - 77 - 20 - 26 - 95.

We've never traveled I76 because we avoid toll roads. We've visited all the huge cities in the east/northeast so we go around. We do not have time schedules so it's not a bother. North of Philly we normally use US highways. Same when south of Columbia, SC. US25 - US301 & US1 into FL are all good highways. When crossing into FL you can take I10 east or west to FL highways going south.
