New, New and New

Hi folks. I'm Clint. My wife and I are both active duty Army. After multiple deployments, living in very small spaces, we decided that we like our life better when we’re not living in a big house with a bunch of stuff we don’t ever use.

(New #1) So, we decided to try full time RV living for a while. We've never lived in anything other than houses or apartments. We had already reserved a slot in a local RV park (top notch facility, by the way). So now we’re just waiting on the trailer to arrive so we can start moving in. We’ve been planning and preparing for the massive lifestyle change for several months, and have worked hard to identify the bare bones minimum amount of stuff we truly need to live on. The rest is getting sold or donated.

(New #2) We bought a brand new 2013 Sprinter 323 BHS from Dick’s RV in WI. We found the same model used locally, but it had some issues. We absolutely loved the floor plan, so we searched for one in a little better condition and came across a brand new unit at Dick’s. Worked with Eric via phone and email. He gave us a great deal and arranged delivery. It will be here Thursday (25 March).
Neither of us have ever lived in an RV of any type, nor have we even really spent much time in one. But through friends who are experienced and through lots of research, we decided to try this.
(New #3) ……..and that is what brings me here, to this forum. I’m excited to start this little adventure, but being a complete and total newbie, I realize that there are a lot of things that can only be learned through experience or through reaching out to those who are experienced.

I look forward to sharing our adventures and learning from everyone else.

God bless Texas and the those other states too,
Clint

has already *been there done that*... we all started as newbies at some point.

Congratulations on your new Sprinter!

Thanks again everyone. we've spent our first few nights in the camper already..... we've labeled it "The Castle". haha

absolutely love it, and the folks in the RV park are great. anyone traveling through middle Tennessee or western Kentucky should check out Clarksville RV park. great people and top notch facility.

-take care,
Clint

In my last year in the Navy I moved out to the sticks and into a small (VERY small) travel trailer (old, too) ... on a lake front RV park - just an attempt to "get away from it all".

I was single then, so a lot easier to stay downsized - just coming off deployment aboard a carrier had already downsized for that. So, moving "up" from shipboard berthing to a 18' travel trailer was easy.

Good luck to you guys and thanks for your service. I'll not make any cracks about the army - got my brother and sister-in-law, and another brother-in-law to rib about that. Brother retired as SGM, his wife left the service as SFC, and brother-in-law left the Army as MAJ, iirc.
