Never seen anything that bad, but when I see the proverbial accident waiting to happen, if they are going too fast to safely get by them and well ahead of them, I will get about a 1/4 mile behind them and stay there. If they’re going slow enough, pass and put some distance between us. Can be very un nerving.

My "self preservation philosophy" is that it's easier to avoid an accident from BEHIND it than it is to try to stop someone from running into your back end... So, if I see a "obviously drunk driver swerving from lane to lane" (or maybe a not so obviously impaired driver doing the same), I try to stay "behind them where I can control the stopping distance" than to "pass them and let them control how hard they might hit me".... If I can't "easily" stay behind them, then I try to "give the truck and DW a break at the nest rest area"...
There are "exceptions to every rule" so I can't always stay behind them, but generally speaking, it's much safer behind someone about to wreck than it is to be in front of them where they may easily involve you in their "accident about to happen"....
I suppose another way to state it would be, "You can't always outrun stupidity"...

i’m thinking the extra gas cans are to help with the gas leak from the tank scraping along the road

of course it will tow it, I towed a rail road box car with 50 tons of dog food in with a 78 Datsun pick up. Well i did only move it about 100 feet just enough to get it to the loading dock, and I may have needed a new clutch soon after. HaHa.

On a positive note, he still has full access to the bed of his "nice truck".
