I have a new cougar half ton and having some chucking. Will adding equa-flex suspension help with the chucking? Thanks tommy

You will probably have better results from upgrading the pin box to a MorRyde rubber pin box or one of the air suspension boxes.

Tommy, I'm with Bob on this question. Trail-Air would be at the top of my list and can be had here for less than $500. Plus it is an easy install for most DIY.

Need more info if you please. What exact model of trailer? What is the Tow Vehicle Specs? What is the 5th wheel make and model you have installed?

Seems unnecessary to put a Trail Air hitch on a 5er with a GVWR likely less than 10,000#.
If your 5er is giving you chucking it isn’t riding smooth, if riding smooth and level you will likely not have chucking.
Would also what hitch are you using.

The most economical hitch is the roto flex from trailair. It will eliminate most if not all of your chucking. It is what most manufacturers are using now and works very well

I put a roto Flex on my fiver. Our first real test was the trip to Oregon for the eclipse. It made a huge difference.

I was having the same problem. My combo had my rear slightly low . Because all my gear was brand new I did not want to reinvest in a different setup so I installed adjustable airbags to level out the ride and stopped most of the chucking.

When going down the road, you feel this sensation of being pushed or bounced.
It will depend on your setup and on some roads. You've probably felt it on some roads, even without your RV hooked up, where the road joints give a
kathunk, kathunk, kathunk..... With the extra weight of the fiver, and the tires on the fiver being 'out of sync' with the truck tires over those road joints, you get a accentuated kathunk/bounce sensation.
As you see, there are lots of opinions on ways to reduce or eliminate it.

Install a goose neck ball and an Andersen adapter hitch. You can also install on rails. $500 for a steel and $700 for an aluminum; best pull with a 5ver. The ball portion has a wide range of height adjustment to get your trailer level! Easy to install and remove.

You have the correct thought plan, soft pin boxes and hitches only mask the issue. You seem to be wanting to fixing the Root Cause! If one gets the 5er to tow level and smooth, 99% of chucking will go away.
I leveled the 5er, added shocks and wet bolts, and have almost zero chucking.

And if you need to be concerned about "payload"... the Trailair weighs in at 170# where as the Roto Flex weighs in at 115#.
